Speaking at the award ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the positive contributions of foreign information work in general and the team of foreign information workers in particular to the important results of the country after half a term of implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, contributing to consolidating and enhancing the role, position and prestige of our Party and country in the international arena.
In the past, Vietnam left a strong impression as a nation that loved peace, was indomitable, and bravely fought for national independence and unification. Today, international friends also know a safe, friendly, stable, integrated, and developing Vietnam. An important contribution to that common pride is the role of communication activities in general and foreign information work in particular.
Foreign information work has made impressive progress; information is increasingly fast, comprehensive, and unique, serving as a bridge for the international community to clearly and correctly understand the Party and State's guidelines and policies. At the same time, countries and people around the world share and support Vietnam's viewpoints on international issues; promote the image of the country, its people, its history, its culture, and its development achievements.
On the other hand, foreign information has been a bridge to convey international issues to all classes of people; contributing to arousing patriotism, national pride and aspirations; connecting Vietnam with the international community; at the same time contributing to mobilizing resources to build and develop the country; fighting and refuting false and distorted information and viewpoints of opportunistic and hostile forces.

To further improve communication work in general and foreign information work in particular, the Prime Minister requested relevant agencies and soldiers on the foreign information front to focus on raising awareness of the role of foreign affairs work and foreign information associated with effectively implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws, and promoting the people's strength to build and defend the Fatherland in the new situation.
The Prime Minister requested to step up communication and promotion of the country and people of Vietnam, especially the great and historical achievements that have been achieved; the spirit of great national unity, the rich and diverse culture imbued with national identity; the loyal, friendly, affectionate and peace-loving Vietnamese people. Thereby, promoting internal strength, taking advantage of external strength, combining internal and external strength, national strength and the strength of the times to develop the country; constantly innovating and creating methods and content, improving the quality, efficiency and persuasiveness of foreign affairs and foreign information.
“We must write vivid, engaging, unique stories imbued with national character, so that the world knows, understands, accompanies, trusts, loves, and supports Vietnam; conveys Vietnam's messages that international friends are interested in; at the same time, calls for support and assistance from other countries to contribute to making Vietnam shine in the hearts of international friends; together overcome the common challenges of nations and humanity,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

Referring to the harmonious combination of “building” and “fighting”, in which “building” is the main focus, the Prime Minister requested that foreign information must actively fight and promptly and effectively refute bad, toxic, offensive information that sabotages the Party and the State; focus on forecasting and promptly grasping domestic and foreign public opinion flows to serve foreign affairs and foreign information work.
