“Our people must know our history, to understand the origin of our country Vietnam”. Uncle Ho's teachings during his lifetime always remind the generations of the country to pay attention to preserving the historical and cultural traditions of the nation, always maintain pride and patriotism, especially when the negative side of the market economy and the impacts of a pragmatic and hedonistic lifestyle are strongly influencing the younger generation. It is a good sign that increasingly, keywords about history and museums are being searched by young people. On Facebook alone, there have been more than 2,000 articles posted with reviews and feelings after visiting museums and historical sites. In Hue, many museums attract the attention of young people, such as: Ho Chi Minh Museum, Hue Royal Antiquities Museum, Hue Fine Arts Museum, XQ Embroidery Museum... This is a good sign because the next generation is more interested and wants to learn about the history of the country.
During the summer vacation, student Phan Thi Ngoc Anh (Faculty of Architecture, University of Science, Hue University) took the time to visit the General Nguyen Chi Thanh Museum. A cozy space opened up before her eyes. Stories and memorabilia of General Nguyen Chi Thanh were carefully preserved and cared for. The museum staff's stories about the General's life brought her closer to the "movement general".
“Thanks to coming to the museum, seeing the relics and listening to stories about the General, I learned more about the history of the nation, about a general close to the people, a talented general with the famous saying “grab the enemy’s belt and fight”. This will be an unforgettable memory for me”, Ngoc Anh shared.
Phan Ban Nhat Nam, a student at Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted in Hue, also spent time learning about history through museum trips. Nhat Nam said he spent time going to the Ho Chi Minh Museum, listening to stories about Uncle Ho's childhood in Hue with simple and diverse images and artifacts. Besides learning about the famous leader of the nation, he also learned some information about the school he is attending. Nhat Nam said that going to museums makes him very excited because there is a lot of information that cannot be found in textbooks or lessons at school.
In addition to historical museums, many young people in Hue also choose cultural museums as a place to relax and learn about culture on the weekend. The first time coming to the Perfume River Ancient Pottery Museum, Phan Thi Kieu Oanh (University of Foreign Languages, Hue University) admitted that she "regrets not coming here sooner". Objects such as jars, pots, vases, cups, bowls, lime pots are made of different materials such as terracotta, porcelain, enameled ceramics... with many different ages. Each object carries a story, cultural features about the life and activities of Hue residents from hundreds, thousands of years ago. "I think, instead of going to a coffee shop, I can invite more friends to go to the museum. Through going to the museum, we can both relieve stress and gain more understanding about the culture of our homeland", Kieu Oanh excitedly said.
Le Ba Dang Memorial Space is also a destination chosen by many young people to visit. Known as “the place that tells the story of a dream”, the works displayed here immerse many young people in a beautiful contemporary art space, both romantic and imbued with poetry. Not only about the paintings, this place has a harmony of landscape, architecture combined with sophisticated and artistic display and installation art. “Visiting Le Ba Dang Museum, we can both approach art, fine arts, and admire the harmonious combination of architecture and nature. We also have beautiful photos to show off to our friends”, Kieu Oanh said.
