(HNMO) - On the afternoon of May 14, a working delegation of the Hanoi Journalists Association led by Chairman of the Hanoi Journalists Association To Quang Phan visited and worked at Tay Yen Border Guard Station (Border Guard of Kien Giang Province).

At the working program, Lieutenant Colonel Bui Khac Duong, Head of Tay Yen Border Guard Station (Rach Gia city, Kien Giang province) said: Tay Yen Border Guard Station is responsible for and manages the border area including 8 communes and wards of the sea border in 3 districts and cities. In 2022 and the first 5 months of 2023, the security and order situation in the sea area under the unit's responsibility and management is maintained. The unit regularly propagates and disseminates to fishing boat owners, captains, and fishermen the provisions of the law on seafood exploitation; commits not to illegally catch seafood. Through inspection and control work in 2022 and the first 5 months of 2023, the unit discovered and handled 21 cases/30 subjects; arrested 1 subject related to drugs; discovered, investigated, and handled 1 case/2 subjects transporting 7,123 liters of DO oil and 42 bottles of foreign wine; receive and resolve 1 report of human trafficking crime...
Speaking at the visit and working session, Chairman of the Hanoi Journalists Association To Quang Phan shared: Implementing the program of signing and propagating between the Political Department of the Border Guard Command and the Hanoi Journalists Association, every year, the Hanoi Journalists Association organizes field trips for reporters of Hanoi press agencies to learn about the life, activities and silent contributions of the border guards in protecting and maintaining sovereignty over the sea and islands; typical advanced examples... Through field trips, Hanoi press reporters gain more experience, exchange and study to have good works to serve readers...
At the program, the Hanoi Journalists Association, the Capital Women's Newspaper, and the Vietnam Women Journalists Club awarded 5 "Helping You Go to School" scholarships.
Next, the delegation visited the heroic Vietnamese mother Nguyen Thi Nguyet, born in 1922, in Nam Thai A commune, An Bien district, Kien Giang province. Mother Nguyet's husband and son were martyrs who died in the resistance war against the US to save the country. Permanent Vice President of the Hanoi Journalists Association Kieu Thanh Hung and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Hanoi Moi Newspaper Luong Chi Cong kindly talked to and asked about the health and life of Mother Nguyen Thi Nguyet, wished her good health, longevity, and happiness with her children and grandchildren; and presented a gift of 10 million VND to her and her family.
Expressing her emotions, Ms. Truong Hong Mai, the youngest child of Nguyet's mother, said: "The gift is the love and heart of the City Journalists Association and Hanoi Moi Newspaper, my mother has more joy. I am truly grateful."
