South American press highly appreciates Vietnam's 'bamboo diplomacy'

According to the VNA correspondent in South America, El Popular affirmed that in 2023, Vietnam's friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Latin American countries achieved important and remarkable progress. The article emphasized that this is the result of the process of implementing a synchronous and comprehensive diplomatic policy on the channels of Party diplomacy, State diplomacy and people's diplomacy of Vietnam, demonstrating the "bamboo diplomacy" school with a firm root, strong trunk, flexible branches, imbued with the soul, character, identity and values of the Vietnamese people. The mouthpiece of the Communist Party of Uruguay emphasized that in 2023, senior leaders of Vietnam made more than 40 visits to neighboring countries, important partners, traditional friends and welcomed nearly 50 leaders of countries and international organizations, creating a new step of quality development in foreign affairs and international integration, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's position and prestige in the international arena. In Latin America, the newspaper cited the visit of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue to Cuba, Argentina and Uruguay from April 22 to 29, 2023, and the visit to Brazil by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh from September 23 to 25, 2023. During National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue's visit to Cuba, the two countries co-organized a series of events to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Cuban Committee for Solidarity with South Vietnam and the 50th anniversary of Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated zone of South Vietnam in Quang Tri. El Popular commented: "The visit affirms that the Party, State and people of Vietnam always remember Cuba's special support for Vietnam during the most difficult years. Vietnam always attaches importance to continuing to consolidate and strengthen the special, exemplary and loyal solidarity, friendship between the two Parties and the two countries." In Argentina, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue's visit took place on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Argentina is one of Vietnam's important partners in Latin America. The two countries are promoting the establishment of a strategic partnership in the fields of industry and agriculture.
In Brazil, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's visit has special significance and importance. This is the first official visit of a Vietnamese Prime Minister to Brazil, and the first visit of a senior Vietnamese leader to Brazil in 16 years, in the context of the two countries looking forward to celebrating the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2024. The newspaper also emphasized that in addition to high-level visits by Vietnamese leaders to Latin America, Vietnam also welcomed many high-level delegations from regional countries such as President of the Cuban National Assembly, Mr. Esteban Lazo Hernández; former President of Chile, Ms. Michelle Bachelet; Foreign Minister of El Salvador, Mr. Alexandra Hin Tinoco; Minister of Regional Integration Policy of the Dominican Republic, Mr. Miguel Mejía; and Foreign Minister of Dominican Republic, Mr. Vince Henderson.
