Despite having a good match against the US, the Vietnamese women's team still received many warnings from the Asian press.

Asian newspaper points out the weaknesses of the Vietnamese women's team before the match against Portugal

The Vietnamese women's team had a good match against the US.

Newspapers all say that coach Mai Duc Chung and his team will face many difficulties in the match against Portugal.

“Portugal hopes to win the next match against the Vietnamese women's team.

They are really determined to achieve this goal. The fact that the Portuguese players cried during the national anthem in the opening match showed their determination,” wrote Malaysia’s New Straits Times.

Another Malaysian newspaper, The Star, highly appreciated the fighting spirit of the girls in red in the match against the US.

However, The Star's writer also pointed out the limitations of the Vietnamese women's team after the opening match.

“The Vietnamese women's team was in a weaker position, but they showed a strong will to fight against the US.

However, the Vietnamese team did not have any shots on target during the entire 90 minutes.

"Mr. Mai Duc Chung's students could hardly dribble the ball to the opponent's final third of the field," wrote The Star.

In addition, the Malaysian newspaper also said that the way Huynh Nhu and her teammates play will probably be figured out after the match with the US.

Meanwhile, the Korea Times of South Korea released statistics on the matches of the Vietnamese women's team since arriving in New Zealand in early July.

I believe that losing all three recent matches against New Zealand, Spain and the US partly shows that the gap in professional level of the Vietnamese women's team is still far behind many teams participating in the World Cup.

"Before losing to the US team on July 27, the Vietnamese women's team lost two friendly matches against New Zealand (0-2) and Spain (0-9)," the Korea Times recalled.

According to the schedule, on July 22, the Vietnamese women's team will face Portugal in the second match of Group E of the 2023 World Cup.
