- EVN quotes price for purchasing new rooftop solar power

Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) has just sent a notice to power corporations, Electricity Telecommunications and Information Technology Company about the price of purchasing electricity from rooftop solar power systems in 2024. The price of purchasing electricity from rooftop solar power systems in 2024 is offered by EVN from 1,999 VND/kWh to 2,231 VND/kWh (according to Dan Tri).

- Proposal to impose 5% value added tax (VAT) on fertilizer products

In the draft Law on Value Added Tax (amended) that is being widely consulted by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Finance proposes to impose a 5% value added tax (VAT) on fertilizers. Oil prices on the international market recovered today after falling more than 3% in the first trading session of the week. According to analysts, oil prices plummeted due to increased production from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and a sharp reduction in prices by the world's leading oil exporter, Saudi Arabia.

The stock market on January 9 recorded the VN-Index falling 1.6 points to 1,158.59 points, thereby breaking the streak of 7 consecutive increasing sessions. Order matching liquidity was at a good level, reaching 16,877 billion VND.

The central exchange rate on January 9 was 23,931 VND/USD, down 2 VND compared to the previous session. The USD price at commercial banks on January 9 increased slightly, listed at the end of the session at 24,155 VND/USD (buy) and 24,525 VND/USD (sell). The international USD price tends to increase.

Gold prices today, January 9, on the world market increased again. Domestic SJC gold bar prices also increased by VND500,000/tael in the afternoon, although they remained unchanged at VND74 million/tael in the morning.

Liquidity pressure cooled down, interbank interest rates fell sharply, and banks continued to reduce deposit interest rates. To date, 10 banks have reduced deposit interest rates in the new year 2024.
