- FDI capital into Vietnam at record high

According to data from the Foreign Investment Agency, Ministry of Planning and Investment, as of December 20, 2023, the total registered foreign investment capital in Vietnam (FDI) reached nearly 36.61 billion USD, up 32.1% over the same period. The realized capital of foreign investment projects is estimated at about 23.18 billion USD, up 3.5% compared to 2022. This is a record disbursement level to date (according to VOV).

Domestic gold prices fluctuated strongly on December 26. SJC gold closed the session up again, adding VND400,000/tael each way, to VND79.2 million/tael after skyrocketing in the morning and falling rapidly in the afternoon. Gold ring and jewelry prices set new records, with some brands surpassing VND64 million/tael, the highest level ever. World gold prices also increased right before the 2024 New Year holiday.

The stock market on December 26 recorded the VN-Index increasing by 4.59 points to 1,122.25 points. The most prominent stock in the session on December 26 was HVN, which increased to the ceiling for the second consecutive session after the information about being removed from the warning list was announced. Although the VN-Index did not break out, it maintained its green color throughout the session.

The central exchange rate on December 26 was 23,870 VND/USD, down 25 VND compared to the previous session. The USD price at commercial banks on December 26 increased quite strongly, listed at the end of the session at 24,100 VND/USD (buy) and 24,470 VND/USD (sell). The world USD price tends to recover.

Today's bank interest rates continue to record another "big guy" in the Big 4 group adjusting down. Meanwhile, a bank at the bottom in terms of charter capital has just unexpectedly gone against the trend to increase its deposit interest rates.
