Mr. Luu Thanh Nguyen - Standing Vice President of Phu Yen Firefly Charity Association - shared: "When I saw the images of houses submerged in water, many elderly people and children had to climb on the corrugated iron roofs waiting for rescue... my heart ached. The idea of selling moon cakes to raise funds to help people affected by storms and floods in the North came to my heart and the association immediately implemented it."

Nguyen said that when he heard about the charity program, people and tourists in Tuy Hoa, Phu Yen province enthusiastically supported it.

Mr. Le Thoai Ky - Chairman of Phu Yen Firefly Charity Association - said that members and volunteers have been selling moon cakes to raise funds directly since the evening of September 11, and also organizing online sales.

In just 2 days, the association has sold more than 2,000 cakes with a profit of 30 million VND. In addition, the association has also mobilized about 400 million VND.

Tonight, September 12, members of the association continue to sell throughout Tuy Hoa City. On the afternoon of September 15, the association will depart for the northern provinces to carry out relief work.

"Based on the actual situation at the time we arrive, we will purchase and distribute whatever people lack or need. In addition to providing necessities, we will also provide cash support," said Mr. Ky.

Mr. Ky also confided that the Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching, but this year, children in the North will find it difficult to fully celebrate Children's Day, so the association also brought moon cakes to give to children in storm and flood areas.

In addition to the Phu Yen Firefly Charity Association, in the past few days, many Phu Yen residents have also been willing to share and support the North. At the house on Duy Tan Street, Tuy Hoa City, tons of goods were gathered by Ms. Nguyen Hai Chau (36 years old) and loaded onto trucks to be transported to the Northern provinces.

On the morning of September 11, a trip left early, today another trip will continue to carry goods and necessities for people in the North.

"At first, I donated 100 boxes of instant noodles and drinks. Knowing about my work, many friends and benefactors also joined in to support me. Now each truck has carried dozens of tons of goods. People in the North can rest assured, we always stand side by side with our compatriots," said Ms. Chau.

At the gathering point, many people joined hands to form a long line to put the goods on the truck. Some people ordered a motorboat to send to the people of Tuyen Quang , some brought bags of life jackets, packs of medicine... Everyone, without anyone telling them, turned their hearts to the North.

Providing free vehicle support for transporting relief goods, Ms. Da Thao (57 years old, Phu Dong ward, Tuy Hoa city) said: "The family uses this truck to transport goods, now the business is temporarily suspended to transport relief goods with the hope that people will have less difficulty".
