This morning, August 17, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy held a ceremony to announce the resolution of the school council to appoint the vice principal in charge of professional affairs of the school for the 2020-2025 term.
New vice principal in charge of professional matters matures from practice
At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Tran Diep Tuan - Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the University Council of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy - presented the resolution of the University Council of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy appointing the new vice principal in charge of professional affairs to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan - Head of the Faculty of Medicine.
The resolution appointing Ms. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan as vice principal in charge of professional matters was signed by the school board chairman Tran Diep Tuan on August 1.
According to this resolution, Ms. Lan's term as vice principal of academic affairs is according to the 2020-2025 term of the board of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Tri Thuc - Deputy Minister of Health - said that being appointed as Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy is a great honor but also a great responsibility for Ms. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan.
Mr. Thuc congratulated Ms. Lan and congratulated the school on having another leader who has matured from practice joining the board of directors.

Associate Professor, Dr. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan is a leading scientist on infertility.
Before being appointed as vice principal, Associate Professor, Dr. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan was holding many management positions at the school, such as head of the medical faculty, head of the obstetrics and gynecology department - medical faculty, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City.
In addition, Associate Professor, Dr. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan is currently the editor-in-chief of Ho Chi Minh City Medical Journal , a member of the editorial board of Fertility and Reproduction journal (the official journal of ASPIRE), and a member of the World Health Organization's editorial team on guidelines for approaching infertile couples.
She also participates in reviewing scientific articles for the journals Human Reproduction, Human Reproduction Update, Human Reproduction Open, Reproductive Biomedicine Online, Scientific Report (Nature), Reproductive Biology.
Associate Professor, Dr. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan has taught training courses on reproductive support at the National University of Singapore.
Ms. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan graduated from Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine in 1996, obtained a master's degree in clinical embryology from the National University of Singapore in 1999, a resident physician in obstetrics and gynecology from Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2004, and a doctorate in medicine specializing in obstetrics and gynecology from Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2016.
Dr. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan was appointed to the title of associate professor in 2019.
Associate Professor, Dr. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan specializes in research in the field of biomedicine and is one of three scientists to receive the Ta Quang Buu Award in 2020 for comparing fresh and frozen embryo transfer methods for in vitro fertilization (IVF).
She has made many contributions to research as well as performed IVF for thousands of families.
She was in the top 100 Asians in 2021 voted by Asian Scientist magazine (Singapore).
Associate Professor, Dr. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan is the author and co-author of over 80 research topics and scientific articles published in domestic and international specialized journals (including New England Journal of Medicine, Human Reproduction, Fertility & Sterility, Reproductive BioMedicine Online, Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics, BMJ, Frontiers in Endocrinology ...).
She is also co-editor and co-author of several monographs on reproductive endocrinology and assisted reproductive techniques and textbooks on obstetrics and gynecology.
Dr. Lan was the deputy head of the infertility department at Tu Du Hospital (HCMC). She is the daughter of Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Phuong, former director of Tu Du Hospital.
The Board of Directors of Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy currently does not have a principal, all are vice principals, including: Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Quoc Dat - vice principal in charge, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Bac - vice principal, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Chinh - vice principal and Associate Professor, Dr. Vuong Thi Ngoc Lan - vice principal in charge of professional matters.
