Ba Ria - Vung Tau is about to start three projects with capital of more than 17,000 billion VND.

Provincial Road 994, Phuoc An Bridge, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway with a total investment of 17,000 billion VND were started by the locality on June 17-18.

According to the plan just issued by the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, the project to upgrade and expand provincial road 994 (the coastal road connecting Vung Tau to Binh Thuan) will start construction on June 17. The 77 km long route is divided into 7 components, with a total capital of more than 7,000 billion VND and is divided into phases according to the province's capital balance capacity.

Provincial Road 994 is a level 3 plain road, currently only used for motor vehicles, starting from Phu My town to National Highway 55 intersecting with Binh Thuan province. Some short sections on the route have been invested in with a 4-6 lane road design. When completed, the route will serve the development of tourism in the East of the province and connect Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster, serving the needs of intra-provincial and inter-provincial freight transport.

On June 18, the province also started construction on two other key projects: the Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway component 3 project (phase 1) and the Phuoc An bridge project.

Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway section through Ba Ria - Vung Tau province is 19.5 km long, with an investment capital of more than 5,100 billion VND. Of which, the section through Phu My town is 15.5 km long, the end point through Ba Ria city is 4 km long. The cost of land clearance is more than 1,300 billion VND, the locality spends 670 billion VND from the reserve fund of the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021-2025 to participate. The project is expected to be completed in June 2025.

The entire Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway (phase 1) is 53.7 km long, with 4-6 lanes, and a total investment of VND17,837 billion. The project is divided into three component projects. Of which, component projects 1 and 2 are 34.2 km long, implemented in Dong Nai, with a total cost of more than VND12,600 billion.

Phuoc An Bridge project is over 4.3 km long, of which the bridge over Thi Vai River is 3.5 km long, with 6 lanes and access roads, connecting to Phuoc An port. The construction cost is nearly 4,900 billion VND, of which the budget of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province is 2,879 billion VND and the Central Government supports about 2,000 billion VND. The project is expected to be completed after 5 years of construction.

According to the Resolution on planning of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Provincial People's Council at a thematic session on the afternoon of May 31, this locality aims to become a centrally-run city by 2030 with economic pillars including industry, seaports and logistics, tourism and urban areas, and services.
