Going to university in middle age turned Mrs. Lees's life upside down, significantly affecting the lives of her husband and five children.
Initially, Ms. Lees enrolled in a college to study English and communications. After graduating, she continued to study at university and received a scholarship from the University of Pennsylvania (USA). After 10 years of studying, Ms. Lees received a bachelor's degree in English.
Currently, Ms. Lees writes for several magazines, works as a contributing editor for several publishers, and runs several creative writing courses.
Sharing about her past learning journey, Ms. Lees said that she was born into a family that did not encourage her children to pursue their education. Therefore, at the age of 40, Ms. Lees wanted to create a convincing example for her children to strive to study and pursue their dreams.
She had to find a way to balance her studies, work and family responsibilities at the same time. In addition to studying, she also did some jobs such as laundry, kitchen help, tutor... Every morning, she still drove her children to school.
Ms. Lees also had to find a flexible way to study. She recorded her class lectures, and when she had time to do housework, she would listen to the recorded lectures while she worked.

To create understanding and sympathy in the family, she constantly shared with her children about her studies and the things she had learned in class.
Stories are shared happily during family meals or when she takes the children to school. Such stories not only make the children more obedient and supportive of their mother, but also help her review the knowledge she has learned at school.
During her time studying, she admitted that she could not devote as much time and energy to her children as before. Her children had to give up some extracurricular activities because their parents did not have time to pick them up and drop them off regularly.
She no longer has time to cook elaborate meals like before, and her weekly meals are always very simple. However, her children are always proud of their strong-willed mother.
Mrs. Lees is happy because finally, she has helped herself, her family and her children to appreciate knowledge, strive to pursue education and together improve the educational foundation in the family.
