Vietnam is becoming a market with a very fast growth rate in terms of infrastructure and technology application services, a competitive investment attraction environment in the region. However, the shortage of standard IT human resources is a major problem affecting competitiveness, in which training and experimental environment for young human resources play a decisive role.
According to statistics from DxReports, the proportion of human resources in the IT industry in Vietnam is estimated at about 1.1% of the current total of 51 million workers. At the same time, TopDev's human resources report also said that the demand for human resources in this industry in Vietnam is continuously increasing. It is forecasted that from 2022-2024, Vietnam will still have a shortage of 150,000 - 195,000 programmers/engineers annually. Notably, currently only 35% of the 57,000 IT students meet the requirements of businesses, the rest need to be retrained.
Despite attractive salaries ranging from 13.8 to 25 million VND and 30 to 50 million VND depending on years of experience, human resources still cannot meet the speed of technological development and input requirements from businesses. This shows that the quality of human resource training to meet market needs is an issue that needs to be resolved soon.
Representative of ATCollabo Center, Ms. Nguyen Hoang Anh shared: “Most businesses face difficulties in recruiting IT human resources with input quality and the ability to quickly catch up with the team; businesses often have to spend resources including human resources, finance and training time for new employees. This affects the growth rate and competitiveness of businesses”.
