The deal, called Trinity House, is expected to be signed on October 23 in London, England, AFP reported. This is the first defense agreement between the two countries with the largest spending in Europe in this field, and is expected to help Germany and the UK strengthen national security and economic growth.
The deal will allow German submarine-hunting aircraft to operate off the coast of Britain, while German arms giant Rheinmetall will be able to open a gun barrel factory in Britain and use British steel.
The factory is expected to create more than 400 jobs for workers.
In addition, the two countries will cooperate to develop long-range strike weapons with higher precision than current systems, such as the Storm Shadow cruise missile.
The British and German armies will also hold more regular military training programmes together to strengthen NATO's eastern flank.
In a joint statement, British Defense Secretary John Healey said the agreement was a milestone in the relationship between the two countries and a significant boost to European security.
For his part, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stressed that the agreement is proof of the handshake between the two European countries in the context of growing concerns about the regional security situation.
"Britain and Germany are getting closer together. We must not take security in Europe for granted," he said.
