Coming here, I feel like I have more experience of a war."

Many special emotions

With the connection between images, documents and artifacts, a tight and scientific layout, the thematic exhibition "Dien Bien Phu - A golden history" has brought many emotions to viewers.

After viewing all the images and artifacts, veteran Nguyen Viet Loi (Vinh City) shared that the photo “View of Muong Thanh center after liberation” left him with the strongest impression. Because the photo depicted a chaotic scene with collapsed camps, trenches and fortifications torn apart by bombs and bullets, and various vehicles and weapons lying around.

Only those who have been through the bombs and bullets of war can understand the meaning of the fierceness of the photo, saying that this place has just witnessed fierce battles and full of sacrifices and losses. With an iron will and perseverance, the children of Vietnam finally won.

Colonel Nguyen Canh Thin (over 90 years old), former Political Commissar of the Artillery Battalion, Division 316, who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu campaign, expressed his emotions when looking back at the photos of the old battlefield. The most impressive photos for him were "French aircraft shot down at Muong Thanh airport", "Enemy tanks shot down on A1 hill", "Soldiers happily chatting in the trenches before entering the battle at Dien Bien Phu".

The photos and artifacts have shown the harsh, fierce days of 70 years ago, when we were very young. Those days were filled with bullets, bombs, and smoke, our enemies and we fought for every inch of land, every meter of trench, countless comrades fell in the middle of Dien Bien Phu to contribute to the victory. And we cannot forget the afternoon of May 7th that year, when the French troops across the Dien Bien battlefield carried white flags to surrender, walking dejectedly and dejectedly in the middle of the messy trenches, smelling of gunpowder.

Nguyen Cong Hoang, a student at Vinh University, and his friends attentively looked at each photo and artifact and kept commenting. Hoang shared: “Since high school, I have read many documents and heard stories about the Dien Bien Phu campaign. But when I came to this exhibition, I was even more surprised and admired by the fighting spirit and determination to win of our army and people. Especially when I witnessed with my own eyes the bicycle, the means of transport of the civilian labor force to transport food and ammunition to the battlefield; or the simple guns our soldiers used to destroy the enemy.”

It can be said that the exhibition “Dien Bien Phu - A golden history” has recreated the glorious feats of arms of our army and people in general, the army and people of Inter-zone 4, Nghe An in particular in the historic victory of Dien Bien Phu. At the same time, it honors, expresses gratitude, and commemorates the great contributions and sacrifices of our compatriots, comrades, officers, and soldiers of the armed forces who fought bravely, served in combat, and created a miracle “recorded in history as a Bach Dang, a Chi Lang, or a Dong Da of the 20th century”./.
