Authorities in Krong Pak district (Dak Lak) are investigating and verifying information about a porridge shop owner who ripped off a customer for 2 bowls of oyster porridge for 200,000 VND at midnight.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoan, Party Secretary of Phuoc An town (Krong Pak district), said he had asked the authorities to verify the information that two passengers who went to a restaurant to eat oyster porridge at midnight were ripped off for 100,000 VND per bowl.
Initial information, this morning (February 7), a social media account posted information: "I missed the road and saw a shop selling at midnight. The two of us went in to eat 2 bowls of porridge and the shop owner overcharged us 200,000 VND. The shop is in Phuoc An town, Dak Lak".
After this content was posted, many people thought that a bowl of oyster porridge costing 100,000 VND was too expensive and the restaurant owner was "ripping off customers". However, there were also opinions that this price was not expensive because a bowl of porridge had 8-10 oysters, so that price was normal.
Sharing with VietNamNet, Mr. H. confirmed that early that morning, he and a friend went to eat at a porridge shop on Giai Phong Street (Phuoc An town). The bowl of porridge only had 4 oysters (not 8 as shared by the shop owner) but the shop owner charged 100,000 VND/bowl.
According to Mr. H., this morning the restaurant owner called Mr. H. to apologize and said it was the employee's fault because the owner had gone to bed at that time, and would also fire the employee.
"Because I saw that they knew their mistake, I removed the information on social media and advised the restaurant owner not to 'rip off' customers like that," Mr. H. shared.
