85% of the content and scenes of the movie "Red Rain" will be filmed in Quang Tri.

This afternoon, August 7, the People's Committee of Quang Tri province worked with the People's Army Cinema film crew on the production of the feature film "Red Rain". Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam chaired the meeting.

Pursuant to Decision No. 1113/QD-BQP dated March 23, 2024 of the Minister of National Defense approving the Plan for producing feature films to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (1945-2025), National Day (September 2) and major holidays of the Party, State and Army in 2025, the People's Army Cinema was assigned to produce the feature film "Red Rain" on the theme of revolutionary war, reflecting the heroic and resilient fight of cadres, soldiers and Vietnamese people during 81 days and nights to protect Quang Tri Citadel; praising the strategic battle of the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam at the negotiating table at the Paris Conference; denouncing war crimes committed by the US imperialists and their henchmen.

With the main context being the battle at Quang Tri Citadel and Thach Han River, the film praises the brave spirit and noble humanity through each fate, life, and fight of the liberation army soldiers and the people of Quang Tri province; reflecting the heroic examples who fought, sacrificed, and devoted themselves to the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

The film also speaks of the spirit of national reconciliation, harmony, looking towards the future, building peace and stability for the Vietnamese people. Accounting for 85% of the content, the main scene of the film is set in Quang Tri province, the rest is filmed in Hue, Hanoi , Thai Nguyen. The film will be made from May 2024 to August 2025, and will be released to the audience in September 2025.

Previously, from April 15-17, 2024, at the Quang Tri Provincial Military Command, a conference was held to deploy the coordination work of producing the feature film "Red Rain" between the People's Army Cinema, the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee and Military Region 4.

Accordingly, the localities and functional agencies of Quang Tri province, Military Region 4, and the Provincial Military Command have paid attention to and helped the film crew carry out the work of clearing the land at locations used for film sets in localities such as Hai Le commune, Quang Tri town; Trieu Thuong commune, Trieu Phong district; Thach Han river bank. Surveyed and selected Ta Con airport as the setting to recreate the field airport and forward command post of the Republic of Vietnam.

Cooperating with local businesses to carry out phase 1 of building the Citadel's setting, leveling the film set; preparing solutions to dig the foundation for the Citadel. Currently building camps, pulling 3-phase power lines, digging wells...

To meet urgent requirements and progress of the film production as planned, the representative of the film crew proposed that Quang Tri province assign a focal point of the Provincial People's Committee to coordinate with the People's Army Cinema to contact the work related to the film production process; Quang Tri province is responsible for supporting and creating all conditions for the film crew to perform their tasks well.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam emphasized that the film "Red Rain" choosing to film in Quang Tri province is extremely meaningful. With its rich history and heroic revolutionary tradition, the land and people of Quang Tri will contribute to bringing real emotions, thereby creating an effective effect for the film. The film will also help Quang Tri province introduce and promote the potential, tourism strengths and images of the land and people of Quang Tri.

Based on the film crew's proposal and comments at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam requested relevant departments, branches, sectors and localities to support and create the most favorable conditions for the film crew's proposed content.

The film crew will soon work with relevant departments, branches, units and localities to specifically address the necessary content to receive favorable support for the film production process. The Provincial Military Command will be assigned to coordinate with the People's Army Cinema to contact the work related to the film production process.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also noted that during the filming process, the film crew needs to ensure the protection of relics in accordance with regulations and minimize the impact on the relics. Trieu Phong district and Quang Tri town are requested to direct associations and organizations to mobilize members to participate in mass roles when necessary. Relevant units and localities should survey and support suitable accommodation for the film crew.
