Tokyo began imposing sanctions on Moscow after the special military operation in Ukraine.
Japan has banned exports to Russia of high-end cars worth more than 6 million yen ($42,000) each from April 2022.
The country now imposes additional restrictions on new or used gasoline and diesel vehicles with an engine capacity of over 1,900 cc, electric and hybrid (gasoline and electric engines), and also bans the export of tires for large vehicles.
Exports of other critical goods such as semiconductors, machine tools and robots are also on the banned list from late February 2022.
Japanese-made cars are in high demand in Russia, with used car exports to Moscow reaching around 200,000 units in 2022, up about 30% from the previous year, according to data from Japan's Finance Ministry.
Other items added to the export ban list include metals such as steel, boilers and industrial fibers from Russia.
