Jeju Island is a favorite vacation destination of Jungkook - the main vocalist of the famous K-pop group BTS.

Jeju Island is a popular honeymoon destination, but it’s also a great place for those looking for a relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. With beautiful beaches, fresh seafood, scenic hiking trails and stunning natural wonders, it’s no wonder BTS’s Jungkook loves the place.

1. Sunrise Peak (Seongsan Ilchulbong)

Seongsan Ilchulbong or Sunrise Peak is one of Jeju Island's most iconic landmarks. Rising about 180m above sea level, this volcanic crater was formed about 5,000 years ago. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has appeared in various Korean dramas. While you can admire the beautiful view from afar, the best way to see it is to hike to the top. It's even better if you can catch the sunrise, as its name suggests.

2. Jeongbang Falls

Jeongbang Falls, which flows straight into the sea, is a unique sight in Korea. The water falls from a 23-meter-high black cliff, creating a majestic scene that amaze anyone who sees it. Legend has it that a man named Seobul wrote “Seobulgwacha” on the wall of the waterfall. But to this day, no one has come close enough to Jeongbang Falls to verify this.

3. Manjanggul Cave

At Manjanggul Cave, you will feel like you have gone back in time, witnessing the early days of the Earth's formation with its simple and rustic yet extremely mysterious appearance. With a maximum height of 25m and a width of 18m, Manjanggul Cave is one of the largest lava tubes in the world. Only 1km of the cave is open to visitors, where people can see a variety of terrain features and special rock formations that have been created over thousands of years. In addition, you will admire a 7.6 meter high stone column inside the cave, the largest stone column in the world located in a cave.

4. Hallasan National Park

A trip to Jeju Island would be complete without a visit to Hallasan National Park. Hallasan is home to South Korea's highest peak, and is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. The most notable landmark of Hallasan National Park is its 368 parasitic cones (cone-shaped accumulations of volcanic material, formed from eruptions from cracks in the slopes of volcanoes) called 'oreum'. The area is also home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. Visitors should take a hike to get a panoramic view of the island and the mountains.

5. Udo Island

It is not within the boundaries of Jeju Island, but a short trip to the smaller nearby island of Udo is well worth it. Udo Island is only 3.8km long but has a lot to offer. Dating back to the Joseon Dynasty, the island is also a great place to go fishing, cycling and enjoy a sand massage. Be sure to check out the famous Rhodolith Beach, which has beautiful white sand and crystal clear waters. Udo Island is easily accessible via a 30-minute ferry ride.

6. Seongup Folk Village

This is one of Jeju Island's most popular attractions as it recreates the island's scenery in the 1890s. There are over 100 houses modeled after the old houses on the island. Visitors can also admire many items on display that are part of Jeju Island's history, culture and traditions.

7. Seopjikoji Hill

The best time to visit Seopjikoji Hill is in spring when the vast fields of canola flowers are in full bloom. Thanks to its prime location south of Seongsan Ilchulbong, you will get a view from the front of the island’s famous crater. Seopjikoji Hill also offers a panoramic view of the island’s beaches.
