Mr. Dang Van Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Cooperative Economics ( Ministry of Planning and Investment ) was very impressed with the model and achievements of typical cooperatives in 2024.
As one of the members of the Final Jury that selected 63 outstanding cooperatives nationwide, which were consulted, supported, mobilized, and guided to be established by the Vietnam Farmers' Union , how do you evaluate the quality of the cooperatives nominated this year?
- The final selection council voted for 63 typical cooperatives nationwide, which were consulted, supported, mobilized, and guided by the Vietnam Farmers' Union. In addition to the leaders of the Association's departments and units, there were also representatives of the Department of Cooperative Economics (Ministry of Planning and Investment); Department of Cooperative Economics and Rural Development (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development); Department of Local Industry and Trade ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ); Vietnam Cooperative Alliance.
Therefore, the evaluations and comments on the nominated cooperatives this year are very comprehensive, with high consensus from the Central to the local level, from the Association levels to representatives of the functional departments: Planning and Investment, Agriculture and Rural Development, Industry and Trade, Vietnam Cooperative Alliance. The voting process was carried out seriously, from the Association level to the Provincial Farmers' Association, the Central Farmers' Association and the Final Selection Council meeting and reaching a final consensus.
Basically, the members of the Voting Council highly appreciated the cooperatives nominated this year. These are units with extremely outstanding activities, contributing greatly to the socio-economic development process in the localities.

Some newly established cooperatives, in new fields such as eco-tourism development, have brought positive results, such as Muong Long Cooperative (Nghe An).

In general, the 63 outstanding cooperatives recognized in 2024 covered many industries and fields of agriculture and rural areas, from trade and services to production and farming; many cooperatives boldly applied high technology to production; there were cooperatives in remote areas but had many innovations in business activities, making positive contributions to local socio-economic development such as Sukova Cooperative in Lai Chau, Muong Long Cooperative in Nghe An.
This is the second year that the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union has organized a vote to honor 63 outstanding cooperatives nationwide that were promoted, mobilized, and guided to be established by the Vietnam Farmers' Union. How do you evaluate the development of branches, professional associations, and cooperatives, which is considered one of the key tasks by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union?
The Prime Minister's signing of Decision 182/QD-TTg dated February 20, 2024 approving the Project "Vietnam Farmers' Union participates in developing collective economy in agriculture until 2030" has affirmed the indispensable position and role of Farmers' Unions at all levels in developing collective economy and cooperatives.
Over the years, the Farmers' Association has always been proactive and active in innovating the content and methods of operation, focusing on building models of professional Farmers' Association branches and groups, following the "5 self" and "5 together" methods, contributing to promoting the process of participating in collective economic development and building cooperatives of the Association.
With the advantage of a compact organizational model, moderate number of members, strict operating regulations, appropriate, practical and useful activities ensuring the principle of "5 together", the branches and groups of the Professional Farmers' Association have basically overcome the limitations and difficulties of many years in the activities of the branches and groups and created a foundation for participating in the development into cooperatives and cooperatives.
According to the report of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, up to now, the whole country has had 2,101 professional Farmers' Associations and 24,343 professional Farmers' Association groups established with diverse and rich production and business sectors, focusing mainly on the fields of cultivation, animal husbandry, services, aquaculture, seafood processing; small-scale industry, mechanics, etc.
These figures show that the Farmers' Association at all levels has had many creative ways to develop branches and professional associations, creating a premise for the formation of cooperatives. As the overall agency in charge of collective economy, we highly appreciate the proactive and active participation of the Farmers' Association, contributing to bringing Resolution 20 of the Party on collective economy into life.
I believe that with Decision 182, the Vietnam Farmers' Union will coordinate with relevant ministries and localities to have more space to promote sustainable collective economic development, creating momentum for farmers to link up, produce on a large scale, and increase the value of agricultural products.
