In the first 6 months of 2024, the Thanh Hoa Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has implemented plans and tasks in quite favorable conditions, without any outbreaks of crop and livestock diseases. However, since the beginning of the year, there have been 14 natural disasters; prices of feed, veterinary medicine, and vaccines for livestock farming remain high... affecting the development of agricultural production.
However, with the efforts of all levels, sectors, business community and farmers, the Agriculture and Rural Development sector has made progress and achieved good results. The growth rate (VA) reached 3.4%; food output was 893,717 tons (exceeding the plan by 0.6%); the area of land accumulation for large-scale, high-tech agricultural production was 4,091.8 hectares (reaching 66% of the plan); forest coverage rate was 53.75% (reaching 99.9% of the plan); the rate of rural households using hygienic water was 97.75% (reaching 99.74% of the plan), of which the rate of rural households using clean water according to the standards of the Ministry of Health was 63% (reaching 98.4% of the plan); there were 4 more new rural communes, 13 advanced new rural communes and 9 model new rural communes; 34 OCOP products.

Promoting the achieved results, in the last months of 2024, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Van Cuong requested specialized departments and affiliated units to focus on reviewing regular tasks, making breakthroughs and focusing on solving assigned bottlenecks. Promote the development of agricultural, forestry and fishery production, focusing on organizing autumn-winter crop production according to the plan and orientation of winter crop production 2024-2025. Promote livestock development towards concentrated farms, applying high technology according to the value chain, controlling diseases and protecting the environment. Further strengthen the management, protection and development of forests, speed up the progress of afforestation, ensuring the completion of the afforestation plan.

For the fisheries sector, resolutely implement urgent tasks and solutions to overcome the European Commission's warning on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
Along with that, effectively implement irrigation, dyke and natural disaster prevention work; rural development and new rural construction. Continue to effectively implement the mechanisms and policies issued by the Central and the province on agricultural and rural development.
