Candidates must meet the preliminary requirements for admission to basic military college and university training at Army Officer School 1 and Army Officer School 2 according to the enrollment region.
The time to receive additional admission applications directly at the school or by post is from October 21 to October 27. By October 31, schools will consider admission and report proposed admission scores to the Military Admissions Board of the Ministry of National Defense (through the School Department).
According to regulations, candidates for additional admission must be those who have participated in the preliminary selection and have been notified by a Military School that they are eligible for the preliminary selection but have not been admitted or have not confirmed their admission to any school; and must meet the health standards according to the regulations of the recruiting school.
In particular, candidates participating in the additional admission must have taken the 2024 high school graduation exam, with a total admission score and additional criteria (if any) equal to or higher than the first round admission conditions of the recruiting school.
According to the Military Admissions Board (Ministry of National Defense) at a press conference last June, the number of candidates applying to military schools has decreased for three consecutive years. Recruitment to military schools has faced many difficulties in recent years.
The survey showed that there were about 10 reasons for the decrease in military enrollment. The main reason was that many candidates had refractive errors, while only 3 military schools including the Military Technical Academy, the Military Medical Academy and the Military Science Academy, along with some majors at the Air Defense - Air Force Academy, accepted candidates with refractive errors, so the number of candidates was reduced.
Second, the economic structure has shifted, there are good opportunities in other industries, students do not want to join the army but want to work for a salary in industrial zones, work 8 hours then return to their families and receive a salary of 7-8 million VND/month.
Meanwhile, military salary is very low compared to ability, time, effort, and work pressure is very hard.
Third, in the past, most families had many children, many families sent them to the army to save costs, but now, families with few children, economic development, families with enough money to raise their children to study, so free tuition is no longer an important factor that makes children no longer interested in going to military schools.
