Method 1 (PT1) is to use the results of the high school graduation exam. Candidates applying for admission this way must have good conduct in three years of high school or more.

Candidates in the first three groups, if they have an international English certificate such as IELTS or TOEFL iBT, will be given priority points when considering admission to the English-taught Mathematics Education, English Education and English Language majors. Priority points range from 1-3, corresponding to IELTS from 6.5 or higher or equivalent.

For the majors of Music Pedagogy, Fine Arts Pedagogy and Physical Education, the school directly admits candidates with good conduct and academic performance or better, along with one of the following conditions: graduating with honors from college or intermediate level at art gifted schools; winning provincial Music or Fine Arts awards; being a level 1 athlete or participating in national competitions for high school students.

Method 3 (PT3) is to consider high school transcripts, according to the subjects in the admission combination for each major. For teacher training majors, candidates must have good conduct and excellent academic performance in all semesters, except for Technology Pedagogy, which only requires good academic performance in grade 12. For non-pedagogy majors, the standard is good academic performance and conduct.

Method 4 (PT4) is the combination of aptitude test scores with academic transcript scores, graduation exam scores or competency assessment exams organized by the school. This method applies to candidates applying for Music Pedagogy, Fine Arts Pedagogy, Physical Education, Preschool Education and Preschool Education - English Pedagogy. The general condition is that candidates have good conduct in all exams or better.

The final method (PT5) is based on the results of the competency assessment test organized by Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, combined with the school report or aptitude test score (for Preschool Education or Preschool Education - English Pedagogy).

Candidates applying for admission this way must have good conduct and an average score of 5 semesters (except semester II of grade 12) of 6.5 or higher.

With the above conditions, Hanoi National University of Education is one of the few schools that has specific regulations on conduct for all training majors. In addition, for pedagogical majors, the school does not recruit candidates with deformities, disabilities, speech impediments, or stuttering. Candidates applying for the National Defense and Security Education major must be in good health, have refractive errors of nearsightedness or farsightedness not exceeding 3dp; have no congenital disabilities, or offensive tattoos.
