3 boys were suddenly attacked with a knife by a neighbor in Hanoi

On June 21, the Hanoi People's Court sentenced defendant Dao Xuan Lam (born 1992, in Dan Phuong, Hanoi) to 13 years in prison for the crime of "Murder".

Previously, at around 6:00 p.m. on June 29, 2022, UVĐ (born in 2008), NTN (born in 2004) and Đ.TA (born in 2004) went to the yard of Mr. Dao Van Nhin (born in 1969, a neighbor living next door) to play games on their mobile phones.

At this time, Mr. Nhinh's son was sitting in the living room, while Mr. Nhinh and his wife were sleeping in a separate room.

At 6:30 p.m., Lam went out to the yard to talk and ask questions of the three boys. Then he went into the kitchen, took a knife, stood in front of D., held the boy's head down and stabbed him many times. Then, Lam stood in front of A., took a knife and stabbed the boy twice in the neck.

Stabbed and bleeding, D. and A. ran away. Meanwhile, N. was still sitting on the chair, playing a game on her phone.

At this time, Lam approached, stood opposite, and stabbed N once in the neck. The boy stood up and ran away but was held back by Lam. While the two were struggling, Lam took the knife and stabbed N many times, seriously injuring the boy. N tried to run away, but after about 10 meters, he collapsed at the gate of his house.

As for the 3 victims, after being stabbed multiple times by Lam, they were taken to the hospital by everyone. Thanks to timely emergency care, all 3 children escaped death, with injuries ranging from 15% - 55%.

On June 30, 2022, Dao Xuan Lam was arrested by the Investigation Police Agency of Dan Phuong District Police to investigate the act of Murder.

Determining that Lam showed signs of mental illness, the investigation agency decided to request the Central Institute of Forensic Psychiatry to conduct a psychiatric examination of the defendant.

The conclusion of the forensic psychiatric examination showed: “ While committing the crime and at the time of the examination, the defendant Dao Xuan Lam suffered from a late-onset personality and behavioral disorder due to moderate use of hallucinogens… The defendant had limited ability to perceive and control behavior .”
