56 people died in a mini apartment fire in Khuong Ha, Thanh Xuan. |
On the afternoon of September 13, leaders of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the Hanoi Education Trade Union, the Thanh Xuan District Education and Training Department and the principals of several schools in the area directly visited, encouraged and shared with the families of students and teachers who were victims of the mini apartment fire in Thanh Xuan District.
According to preliminary statistics from the Department of Education and Training, among the 30 victims, there were 29 students and 1 teacher. Of the 29 students, 10 died, 3 are missing (not found, cannot be contacted), 5 are in hospital, and 11 are in stable health.
The Department of Education and Training directed the Thanh Xuan Department of Education and Training to continue reviewing the cases of officials, teachers, employees, and students related to this fire, and at the same time have a plan to promptly support students who are being treated at the hospital. In the case of a student's death, the Department of Education and Training assigned the Industry Union and related units to visit and arrange the funeral with the family.
On the afternoon of September 13, Hanoi Police had official information about the fire. At around 11:20 p.m. on September 12, Call Center 114 - City Police Command Information Center received a fire report at No. 37, Lane 29/70, Khuong Ha Street.
At 11:29 p.m. the same day, units approached the fire, deployed fire fighting, prevented the fire from spreading, and scouts searched and rescued victims.
The fire site was located in a deep alley (about 400m), and fire trucks could not reach it. Authorities rescued more than 70 people trapped in the fire and took the injured to hospitals for emergency treatment.
After 45 minutes, the fire was basically controlled and did not spread to surrounding houses.
As of 6:40 p.m. on September 13, authorities have identified 56 dead and 37 injured (of whom 39/56 dead have been identified) in the fire.
