27 people died in traffic accidents on the first day of Tet holiday

(NLDO) - On the first day of the Lunar New Year holiday 2025, there were 47 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 27 people and injuring 31 people.


On January 25, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT, Ministry of Public Security) announced that on the first day of the Lunar New Year holiday of At Ty 2025, there were 47 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 27 people and injuring 31. Compared to the same period in 2024, there were 33 fewer cases, 16 fewer deaths, and 26 fewer injuries.

In addition, the traffic police nationwide handled 8,870 cases; temporarily detained 40 cars, 2,415 motorbikes, 81 other vehicles; revoked 649 driving licenses of all kinds, deducted points from 874 driving licenses. Of which, 1,909 cases were handled for alcohol concentration violations; 2,222 speed violations; 40 cases for overloading; 6 cases for exceeding the size limit; 94 cases for carrying more people than the prescribed number; and 20 cases for drug violations.

According to the Traffic Police Department, during the day, traffic order and safety were ensured, and there were no prolonged traffic jams.

In Hanoi, from the afternoon of January 24, traffic volume increased, many routes had traffic congestion due to overload of vehicles moving out of Hanoi to other provinces and cities, such as: Ring Road 3, Ring Road 2 and some main routes through the city; on National Highway 5, Co Linh, Nguyen Van Cu, Chuong Duong Bridge, Vinh Tuy Bridge, Nguyen Khoi embankment, traffic volume was high, vehicles moved slowly, no congestion occurred.

In Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring localities: On the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay and Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong - My Thuan expressways, traffic volume increased, crowded vehicles moved slowly, and there were no traffic jams.

On the afternoon of January 24, at Rach Mieu Bridge, the number of vehicles increased dramatically, vehicles were crowded and moving slowly. Traffic police from Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces regulated and separated traffic to avoid traffic jams.
