These two important documents of the Party both affirm and promote the position, role and contribution of literature and arts to social life: "Focusing on the specificity, sensitivity and sophistication of literature and arts, both ensuring development in the right direction of the Party's political and ideological orientation and ensuring freedom and democracy in creation; strongly arousing and promoting the aspiration to contribute and the creative capacity of artists".
Regarding the work of theory and criticism of literature and art, Conclusion No. 84-KL/TW emphasized the necessity of strongly developing research, theory and criticism activities on the basis of Marxist aesthetics, Ho Chi Minh thought and our Party's viewpoint on literature and art; promoting the values and identity of national and ethnic culture and literature; absorbing the quintessence of world culture and literature...
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen The Ky stated that from 2012 to present, the Council has organized 10 rounds of selection and awarding prizes to high-quality theoretical and critical works and projects; commending publishing and press agencies with outstanding achievements in the work of propagating, promoting and creating literature and art - "a very important and particularly delicate field of culture" as affirmed in Resolution 23-NQ/TW of the Politburo.
"In order to select, evaluate and decide to award annual prizes to high-quality works of literary and artistic theory and criticism, the Council especially values the academic quality, novelty, approach and research methods of the authors when addressing specific issues, phenomena, trends or literary and artistic cases, especially the contribution of the winning work to creative practice; theoretical and critical research; promotion and reception of the value of the work", Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen The Ky assessed.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen The Ky, an Award is considered prestigious, serious, objective, rigorous, and practical when and only when it meets high, even strict, requirements. For that reason, in some previous award seasons, the Steering Committee and the Final Jury did not award level A. This year's award season is no exception.
With 118 works (including 34 books and 84 articles), the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to 25 works, including: B Prize: 4 works; C Prize: 12 works and Encouragement Prize: 9 works. 4 level B works include: Sketching Vietnamese cinema in the period of renovation and integration by Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, Anchoring words by theorist and critic Nguyen Hoai Nam, Decorative art of village communal houses in Binh Duong by Dr. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep and Nguyen Binh - The national soul shines on die-cut paper by poet Nguyen Si Dai.
In addition, 18 press and publishing agencies and units with outstanding achievements in propaganda activities for literary and artistic theory and criticism in 2023 were also awarded on this occasion./.
