On the evening of December 17, Mr. Dang Van Hoa, Chief of Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Thua Thien Hue province, said that two crew members of the Gia Bao 19 ship were rescued by a fishing boat.
Accordingly, after more than 11 hours of being in trouble and drifting at sea, at about 3:30 p.m. on December 17, the two crew members were discovered and promptly rescued by ship numbered QNg 98294 TS (Quang Ngai province).
Currently, the two fishermen in distress are being taken by ship QNg 98294 TS to Tho Quang port (Da Nang city) for health monitoring.
Meanwhile, at 6 p.m. the same day, Thua Thien Hue Maritime Port Authority coordinated with functional forces to receive 7 other crew members of Gia Bao 19 ship from HAIAN PARK ship and bring them to Chan May port (Thua Thien Hue province).
After receiving them, the authorities conducted health checks on the crew members. Through initial checks, all 7 crew members were in stable health and good mental state.
As reported, at around 6:40 this morning, the Border Guard Command of Thua Thien Hue province received information from the Maritime Search and Rescue Center Region II about the Gia Bao 19 ship being sunk by water in its cargo hold and waves.
According to information received from the rescue team, the incident occurred at 4:45 a.m. on December 17. At that time, the ship was carrying 9 crew members. The ship sank about 27 nautical miles northeast of Chan May Dong Cape (Thua Thien Hue province).
Upon discovering the incident, the HAIAN PARK ship rescued 7 crew members, 2 fishermen were still missing at sea.
Upon receiving the report, the Office of the PCTT&TKCN Command coordinated with the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Maritime Port Authority of Thua Thien Hue Province and other units to quickly deploy rescue plans.
Fortunately, by this evening, all crew members on the ship in distress were rescued in time and are in stable health.
