On the afternoon of November 22, Thien Hanh General Hospital (Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak) received dozens of primary school students in Ea Tu Commune, Buon Ma Thuot City, for emergency treatment of suspected food poisoning symptoms.
Doctor Pham Hoa Anh, in charge of the Information and Customer Care Department of Thien Hanh General Hospital, said that 17 students were admitted to the hospital at 3:40 p.m. on November 22, all of them in class 5B at Ly Thuong Kiet Primary School (Ea Tu commune, Buon Ma Thuot city).
According to Dr. Anh, the homeroom teacher who took the students to the hospital, the likely cause of the poisoning was the milk tea the students bought near the school.
Many students being treated at Thien Hanh General Hospital have symptoms of suspected food poisoning.
"The children admitted to the hospital all had symptoms of vomiting, headaches, dizziness, some had stomachaches and diarrhea. The doctors gave them IV fluids, digestive enzymes, and some painkillers. By late afternoon, their health was stable, but the hospital was continuing to monitor them and had not yet released any of them," Dr. Anh informed.
At the emergency room of Thien Hanh General Hospital, Ms. HV (residing in Ju village, Ea Tu commune) was taking care of HLĐ's daughter, one of the students who was hospitalized with poisoning. She said that while working in the fields, she received a text message from the homeroom teacher about her child and many other students showing symptoms of poisoning, so she rushed to the school to take her child to the hospital.
The hospital said many children's health is stable but they will continue to be monitored.
"I heard my child tell me that he and many of his friends bought milk tea near the school and brought it to class to drink. Afterwards, they felt nauseous, had a stomachache, and had a headache. Many other friends vomited continuously," said Ms. HV.
A leader of the Department of Education and Training of Buon Ma Thuot City (Dak Lak) said that he had received information about many students of Ly Thuong Kiet Primary School being hospitalized due to suspected food poisoning and was checking and verifying the incident.
