Tonight, October 30, Chairman of the People's Committee of Huong Son Commune, Huong Hoa District, Quang Tri Province, Le Trong Tuong, said that due to the impact of storm No. 6, traffic routes to Cat and Tria villages are still flooded and landslides have left hundreds of households here almost isolated.

Cat and Tria villages are about 20 km from the center of Huong Son commune. To get here, you can go from the center of the commune, but only the first 2 km can be traveled by motorbike, the rest is on foot through the forest trails. In addition, there is a route from km 27 of National Highway 9 through Cam Thanh commune, Cam Lo district, but currently both of these routes are damaged and cannot be used. In particular, the route from km 27 of National Highway 9 connecting Tria, the overflow tunnels are still flooded, many sections have landslides, and rocks have spilled onto the road.
Mr. Le Trong Tuong said that Cat and Tria villages have 155 households with 732 people, this is considered the most remote and difficult area of the district. One of the reasons is that the transportation system has not been invested in, causing difficulties in the daily life and economic development of the people.

“Although the rain has decreased these days, the river water recedes slowly, many culverts and spillways are still flooded with fast-flowing water, and landslides have occurred in many places, making it almost impossible for people to travel. To get to the commune center, they have to carry motorbikes through flooded areas,” Mr. Tuong informed.
According to Mr. Tuong, on April 10, 2024, the Provincial People's Committee issued a decision approving the plan to implement construction projects from the provincial road maintenance management fund in 2024, including repairing the road connecting National Highway 9 to Tria village with an amount of 3.2 billion VND. On June 28, 2024, the Provincial People's Committee issued a decision to allocate the above funds for the project to repair the road connecting National Highway 9 to Tria village, which is more than 1.75 billion VND. However, up to now, the project has not been implemented. Meanwhile, every rainy and stormy season, people in Cat and Tria villages are worried about being isolated and cut off from traffic.
