This morning, November 15, Quang Tri Newspaper, Department of Information and Communications, and Provincial Ethnic Committee organized the summary and award ceremony of the writing contest on the topic: "Typical and advanced examples of ethnic minority areas in Quang Tri province". Towards the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Quang Tri Province in 2024, under the direction of the Provincial People's Committee, Quang Tri Newspaper chaired and coordinated with the Department of Information and Communications and the Provincial Ethnic Committee to organize a writing contest in Quang Tri Newspaper on the topic: "Typical and advanced examples of ethnic minorities in Quang Tri Province".

The contest will take place from June to the end of October 2024. After 5 months of launching, the contest has attracted a large number of professional and non-professional journalists to participate with nearly 40 works about 50 typical advanced examples published in print and electronic newspapers, and the Facebook page of Quang Tri Newspaper, attracting the attention of many readers. The entries are presented in a number of journalistic genres such as reflections, reports, and notes. In general, the quality of the entries is quite high.

Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Quang Tri Newspaper, Head of the Contest Jury Nguyen Ty said: The content of the works focuses on information and propaganda about collectives and individuals who are typical examples, have the power to spread in the community about new models, good practices, bringing high efficiency in labor, production, hunger eradication and poverty reduction, contributions to building new rural areas, maintaining security and order, protecting borders, preserving national cultural identity; implementing and mobilizing good compliance with the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State; building great solidarity... in the ethnic minority areas of Quang Tri province.

Through the contest, typical examples in the lives of ethnic minorities and mountainous areas of Quang Tri province are spread and multiplied, to make life more and more beautiful.

Writing about village elders, village chiefs, prestigious people in the pioneering community, exemplary in various fields, there are works such as "To innovate the village, even "golden land" is donated", "Donating an inch of gold for the village to develop" by authors Ha Trang, Duc Viet, which set a shining example of village elders and village chiefs who donated thousands of square meters of land to build public welfare works; the work "Ho Van Mat - "The fulcrum" of the village" by author Le Thanh Truc, which is about the example of the Secretary of the Party Cell of Sa Tram village, Ba Nang commune, Dakrong district, who always strives to protect the border and border markers of Vietnam - Laos, was honored in the 2nd "The fulcrum of the village" program organized by the Communist Magazine, the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Border Guard Command in June 2024 in Hanoi...

Writing about examples of dedication to mountainous areas and ethnic minority areas, notably the work "Doctor Pa Ko devoted to the villagers" by author Ko Kan Suong, about the example of doctor Tran Van Thien, Head of the A Vao Commune Health Station, Dakrong District, who has devoted 30 years to taking care of the health of people in difficult areas.

Regarding the cultivation and preservation of the solidarity relationship between the army and the people, there is the work "The soldier with the "green uniform" proudly bears the surname of Uncle Ho" by author Le Truong, which presents the simple yet noble deeds of Captain Ho Van Huu, Captain of the Mass Mobilization Team of Ba Tang Border Guard Station and Senior Lieutenant Ho Van Thu, Captain of the Mass Mobilization Team of La Lay International Border Guard Station, Border Guard of Quang Tri province.

In addition, there are many works focusing on issues that are of public concern, such as land clearance through the work "Overcoming the curse of the "ghost forest" by Nguyen Phuc, reflecting that local people have abandoned backward customs to relocate the "ghost forest", giving land for the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway project. Individuals who have made efforts to overcome difficulties and become good at economics are vividly portrayed by the authors through the work "Ho Van Hu and the dream of a cow cooperative in the border area" by Tung Hoa; the work "Mr. Ho Van Thu is worthy of being named Uncle Ho" by Minh Duc...

The jury worked seriously and objectively, selecting 13 journalistic works by 13 authors for the Provincial People's Committee to decide on awards, including 1 A prize, 3 B prizes, 4 C prizes, and 5 Encouragement prizes.

Among them, the work "The soldier with the "green uniform" proudly bears the surname of Uncle Ho" by author Le Truong was honored to be awarded the A prize.

The works that won the B prize include: “Contributing to preserving the Bru - Van Kieu ethnic language” by author Nguyen Trang; “Ho Van Mat - “The fulcrum” of the village” by author Le Thanh Truc; “Donating “an inch of gold” for the development of the village” by author Le Duc Viet.

The four works that won the C prize include “Crossing the curse of the “ghost forest” to give up land to build a highway” by author Nguyen Phuc; “To renew the village, even “golden land” is donated” by author Nguyen Ha Trang; “9X Pa Ko volunteered across the border” by author Tran Ba ​​Cuong; “The “predecessors” in Vinh O” by author Tran Thanh Tuyen.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong emphasized: The Party and State always pay special attention to the development in mountainous areas, ethnic minority areas, and border areas, in order to improve the material and spiritual life of the people here. Notably, the strength of the entire political system has been mobilized to effectively implement 3 National Target Programs.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee praised and highly appreciated the efforts of the agencies in coordinating the organization of the contest; the authors did not hesitate to face difficulties and actively responded to the contest to have quality and attractive articles about typical advanced examples in ethnic minority areas, contributing to building increasingly beautiful mountainous rural areas.

The Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: To continue to strongly spread the Party's guidelines, the State's policies and laws on the construction and development of mountainous areas and ethnic minority areas, there needs to be active participation of press agencies and journalists.

I hope that journalists will continue to promote their roles and responsibilities, stay close to the locality, be close to the lives of the local people, create quality journalistic works to encourage, motivate, and replicate advanced models, gradually push back backward customs, build increasingly developed and civilized mountainous rural areas, contribute to the completion of local socio-economic tasks, and make Quang Tri increasingly developed.
