On May 20, at Hoa Binh Theater, the Gifted High School (VNU-HCM) held a closing ceremony for the 2023-2024 school year. This is the first time the school has held a closing ceremony with the participation of all students studying at the school's two campuses.
Gifted High School honors three students who won first prize in the national high school competition
Information from the Gifted High School shows that in the 2023-2024 school year, the school has 1,908 students, of which 1,880 are classified as excellent/good (98.51%), with no average students.
Professor Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai, Principal of the Gifted High School, said that this school year, the school had 58 students winning prizes in the national high school competition for excellent students, including: 3 first prizes (in math, biology and literature), 13 second prizes, 22 third prizes and 20 consolation prizes. Of which, Nguyen Hong Anh, a 10th grade literature major, won first prize in literature with the highest score nationwide; 5 students were called to participate in the second round of the national high school competition for excellent students to select a team representing Vietnam to compete in regional and international Olympic competitions.
For national science and technology competitions for high school students, 2 groups of students from the school also brought home 1 second prize and 1 third prize. For city-level competitions for excellent students, the school's students won 44 prizes including 8 second prizes and 36 third prizes...
The principal of the Gifted High School also said that in the recent early university admissions, more than 20 students of the school received full scholarships and more than 100 students received partial scholarships from universities around the world with a total estimated scholarship value of over 100 billion VND. The Gifted High School is also the only specialized high school in the country to currently convert its model to an autonomous operating mechanism.
According to the leaders of the Gifted High School, the upcoming 2024-2025 school year will be a year of promoting digital transformation in teaching and learning activities, with digital lectures using the blended learning method (a smart combination of face-to-face and online learning), and online courses to convert university credits from member schools of the National University of Ho Chi Minh City for students of the Gifted High School. Students will have a more flexible timetable when they can freely choose subjects according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
