VOV.VN – Overcoming the effects of floods, this morning, nearly 1.2 million ethnic students in 5 Northwestern provinces including Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Yen Bai and Lao Cai attended the opening ceremony, confidently entering the new school year with a joyful and excited atmosphere, determined to achieve the highest results.
In Son La province this morning, in 12/12 districts and cities, the weather was cool and sunny, favorable for students at more than 610 schools to go to school for the opening ceremony. Despite suffering heavy damage in recent heavy rains, especially the impact of storm No. 2, with the drastic participation of all levels, sectors and benefactors, all 375,000 students at all levels in the province this morning were able to go to school for the opening ceremony in a joyful and excited atmosphere.
Mr. Lo Minh Hue, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tong Co Commune - a locality that suffered heavy damage with more than 60 households submerged in water for a whole week during the rains at the end of July, said that today all three levels of preschool, primary and secondary schools in the commune started the new school year as planned. Although the recent floods have affected the material and spiritual lives of the people, at the beginning of the new school year, parents are still concerned about bringing their children to the opening ceremony; at the same time, they proactively prepare books, pens, etc. as the best luggage for their children to enter the new school year.
In the flooded area of Muong Pon commune, Dien Bien district, Dien Bien province, there was light rain this morning but it did not affect the organization of the new school year opening ceremony of schools.
This school year, Muong Pon Secondary School has 16 classes with more than 370 students. The recent flash flood damaged some of the school’s facilities, 74 students have families affected by the flood, and 1 student is still missing.
To ensure that students arrive at school on time for the opening ceremony, many students from villages more than 10km away such as Pa Cha, Huoi Un, and Co Chay were mobilized to go to school since yesterday afternoon, September 4. The entire school facilities have been cleaned up by the teachers for more than a week. This morning, September 5, the students also woke up early to prepare their clothes, and attended the opening ceremony with their teachers in a joyful and excited atmosphere, determined to achieve high results this school year.
“I have prepared myself mentally to study well. The teachers have cared for me and my friends, supported them with pens, notebooks, textbooks and encouraged everyone to try to study with peace of mind to achieve the best results,” said Quang Manh Truong, a student at Muong Pon Secondary School, whose house was swept away by the flood, lost his younger brother, and his family is currently living with his grandparents.
Following the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training on organizing the opening ceremony in a streamlined and compact manner suitable to the actual situation of the locality, after reviewing the conditions, many schools in the border province of Lai Chau organized the inter-school opening ceremony this morning.
Ms. Nghiem Thi Kim Hue, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Lai Chau province, said: This school year, the whole sector has 336 schools, more than 5,000 classes and more than 150,000 students. Overcoming difficulties in school facilities, teaching and learning equipment, schools are determined to enter the new school year with many successes. In particular, after localities recruit more than 400 teachers according to the quota, this number will be assigned to school units to supplement the shortage of nearly 1,000 teachers in the new school year.
“The Department of Education and Training of Lai Chau province has proactively coordinated with relevant levels and sectors to organize training for managers and teachers in both political theory and professional expertise to carry out teaching and learning tasks in schools, especially for classes following the 2018 general education program,” said Ms. Hue.
In Lao Cai province, over 600 educational institutions with more than 230,000 students this morning held the opening ceremony of the new school year in a solemn, concise, joyful and economical atmosphere in accordance with the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Lao Cai province organized 18 working delegations to attend and encourage teachers and students of the schools, giving priority to facilities that have just completed construction, met national standards, or are located in difficult areas. In addition, 9 districts, towns, and cities in the area assigned leaders of Party committees and authorities to attend with the schools.
“The town has directed the education sector and the authorities of communes and wards to prepare well the conditions to organize the opening day of the new school year for students in a joyful and exciting spirit. All activities must be student-centered to encourage and motivate them to go to school,” said Mr. Do Van Tan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Sa Pa town.
After the opening ceremony, educational institutions in the Northwestern provinces will immediately implement teaching and learning according to plan. Many provinces in the region have issued a separate Directive on key tasks to be implemented for the new school year, striving to achieve the highest results at each level of education.
