Google grants $1.5 million to Fulbright University to develop AI education

On August 19, during an AI exchange between Google Chief Science Officer Jeff Dean and students of Fulbright University Vietnam, Dr. Scott Fritzen - President of Fulbright University Vietnam - announced receiving a grant worth 1.5 million USD (37.4 billion VND) from Google for the school.

This grant from Google will be used to enhance AI education at Fulbright University Vietnam.

Specifically, Fulbright University Vietnam will integrate AI into all academic programs at the school, develop majors and minors related to AI in the undergraduate program, helping students gain AI application skills.

The funding is also allocated to the goals of recruiting additional AI experts to expand teaching, supporting AI-related research by faculty and students, as well as collaborative initiatives with academic and industry partners in Vietnam and internationally.

Dr Scott Fritzen said AI is reshaping the world in unprecedented ways. “This support is a huge help to us in integrating AI into our academic programs,” he said.

Google's chief scientist Jeff Dean believes that Vietnam has many talented young people in the fields of technology and AI.

To nurture talented AI experts, according to Dr. Jeff Dean, universities can create more opportunities for students to study and research AI, and access new learning methods when AI is integrated right into the curriculum...

In addition, the combination of universities and units with strengths in technology and AI will also bring many benefits to young people.

In addition to the $1.5 million grant to Fulbright University Vietnam, Google has now partnered with the Vietnam National Innovation Center to launch two programs, including Google AI Essentials to build an AI-ready workforce, and Google for Startups Accelerator SEA Vietnam to promote the development and testing of GenAI for local startups.
