\n上院議員らは、公聴会は「企業がオンラインで子どもを保護できていない」ことを示す機会となるだろうと述べた。
\nディック・ダービン上院議員とリンジー・グラハム上院議員は共同声明で、「当初から、オンラインで子どもを保護しようとする私たちの取り組みが大手テクノロジー企業から軽蔑されることはわかっていた。彼らはついに、子どもの保護における欠陥を認めざるを得なくなった。
\n公聴会は、オンライン上の子どもの安全に関する規制を強化する超党派の取り組みの一環である。過去1年間、米国のいくつかの州は、オンラインで子どもを保護することを目的としたインターネット安全法を可決した。
