Speaking to the press, the Ministry of Education and Training said it had fully verified the qualifications of Mr. Vuong Tan Viet.
Accordingly, the verification results showed that Mr. Vuong Tan Viet used his high school diploma illegally. Mr. Viet also admitted this and voluntarily surrendered the diplomas for handling according to regulations.
The Ministry of Education and Training has requested relevant higher education institutions to urgently revoke the diploma granted to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet according to the law, and at the same time review the training organization process to avoid similar cases.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the coordination with the authorities to review and verify Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's qualifications in the past was carried out according to a thorough, careful process, in accordance with the provisions of the law.

It is known that right after the report of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City about Mr. Viet's high school diploma, the Ministry of Education and Training initially verified that there was a basis to doubt the quality of this diploma.
At the same time, the Ministry continues to coordinate with security agencies to investigate other important information related to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's qualifications.
The Ministry of Education and Training has sent independent reviewers to assess the quality of Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's doctoral thesis at Hanoi Law University. On that basis, the Ministry established a thesis assessment council.
Mr. Vuong Tan Viet (born in 1959) graduated from university with a degree in English in 2001 at the University of Foreign Languages - now Hanoi University; graduated from university with a degree in Law in 2019 at Hanoi Law University (second degree - study and work).
Mr. Viet was recognized as a graduate and awarded a Bachelor of Law degree 2 - Part-time study on January 15, 2019, with excellent ranking.
On November 26, 2019, Mr. Vuong Tan Viet was admitted to the 25B PhD course (2019-2023 school year) of Hanoi Law University.
On December 26, 2019, the student was recognized as a doctoral student. On December 9, 2021, this student successfully defended his doctoral thesis at the school level.
"On March 17, 2022, the doctoral student was awarded a PhD in Constitutional and Administrative Law under Decision No. 1141/QD-DHLHN of Hanoi Law University," the press release stated.
Mr. Vuong Tan Viet recently caused a stir when he successfully defended his doctoral thesis at Hanoi Law University in a period of 2 years and 3 months.
Hanoi Law University affirmed that the total doctoral training time of student Vuong Tan Viet meets and complies with the doctoral training regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, and the school's decision.
The two universities related to Mr. Vuong Tan Viet's undergraduate and graduate degrees, Hanoi University and Hanoi Law University, both said that when requested by authorities, the schools will implement and handle the university degree according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
