For over a year now, the makeshift, shabby two-room house in village 4, Cam Minh commune (Cam Xuyen) of Pham Thi Ly Ly (born in 2015) and her three children is no longer lonely, because her "mothers" from the Women's Association of Cam Xuyen District Police often come to visit. Her mother passed away when she was only 2 years old, for many years, Ly has lived in conditions lacking both material things and warmth and love.

Knowing the difficult circumstances of the child, starting from January 2022, the Women's Union of Ha Tinh Provincial Police coordinated with the Women's Union of Cam Xuyen District Police to decide to sponsor Ly Ly and her younger brother with an amount of 10.8 million VND/year.
In addition to taking care of material life, the Women's Union of Cam Xuyen District Police regularly visits Ly Ly's house to help her sisters in daily activities and guide their children in their studies. At the same time, they talk to the homeroom teacher to grasp the situation of their children. After more than a year of being cared for and accompanied by the godmothers, Ly Ly's mentality has changed positively, she has become much more confident, active and bold.

Her father passed away early, her mother had a heart disease and could not work. As the second daughter in a family of three children, Hang's dream of going to school was thought to be over. Fortunately, the Women's Association of the Loc Ha District Police knew about her situation and sponsored and guided her.
Not letting down the trust of her "mothers", Hang always tries to overcome difficulties and study. For many years, she has been an excellent student at the district level and especially, in the 2022-2023 school year, she was honored to receive a scholarship from Vingroup Corporation, bringing pride to the godmothers of Loc Ha District Police.

The "Godmother" program has practical and humane meaning and was started by the Provincial Police Women's Union in January 2022 and has been enthusiastically responded to by the subordinate grassroots women's unions and police women's unions in districts, cities and towns. Over the past year, the sisters have actively donated and mobilized socialized resources to create funds to effectively implement the program, ensuring maximum support for orphans in the area.
After reviewing, verifying and selecting orphans and children in especially difficult circumstances, the executive committees of the associations worked with the families to organize a sponsorship ceremony and committed to the level of funding and time of support.

After more than 1 year of implementation, the Women's Union at all levels has sponsored 16 orphans and children in especially difficult circumstances, of which the Provincial Police Women's Union sponsored 1 child, the Women's Union of the affiliated blocks sponsored 3 children, and the Women's Union of the police in districts, cities and towns sponsored 12 children.
For a period of 3 to 15 years, the sponsored children will receive financial support from 3.6 million VND to 12 million VND/year. The support amount is given periodically every month, every quarter, or on special occasions such as: International Children's Day, Mid-Autumn Festival, Lunar New Year, the beginning of the new school year... As of June 2023, the total amount of sponsorship cash given to the children is 122.8 million VND. | |
