On November 19, writing on Telegram , Mayor of Moscow (Russia) Sergei Sobyanin announced that the air defense system had shot down a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) flying towards the city: "For the time being, there is no damage or casualties due to debris... Emergency services are present at the scene."
The UAV was shot down in the Bogorodskoye district, a northeastern suburb of Moscow.
Earlier the same day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the country had suffered a major attack by Russian UAVs, causing power outages in more than 400 towns and villages in the Odesa region, southern Ukraine, and the Zaporizhzhia region, with more than 1,550 people lacking electricity.
He also congratulated the Ukrainian air defense system for shooting down 29 out of 38 Russian UAVs participating in the recent attack.
In related news, President Zelensky issued decrees sanctioning 37 Russian entities and 108 individuals. The decrees impose 10-year sentences on individuals and 5-year sentences on non-profit groups, including one with the English name “Russian Children’s Fund.”
According to Mr. Zelensky, the list includes “people involved in the ‘deportation of Ukrainian children’ from the territory” and individuals who helped Russians in the conflict in Ukraine. The sanctions list also includes former Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and former Minister of Education and Science Dmytro Tabachnyk.
The decree does not specify the actions of the individuals or entities to be punished.
