Livestock alone was 46.5 million USD (down 4.8%) and production inputs were 161 million USD (down 23%).

In the first 8 months of 2024, most commodity groups increased, so the export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reached 40.08 billion USD, up 18.6%; contributing to this result were agricultural products 21.32 billion USD, up 24%; forestry products 10.97 billion USD, up 19.7%; aquatic products 6.23 billion USD, up 7.6%; livestock 324 million USD, up 0.3%. Production input alone was 1.23 billion USD, down 6.8%.

Export turnover of key commodities was higher than the same period last year. Specifically, wood and wood product exports reached 10.24 billion USD, up 20.6% over the same period; coffee exports reached 4.03 billion USD, up 36.1% over the same period; rice exports reached 3.85 billion USD, up 21.7% over the same period; cashew nut exports reached 2.77 billion USD, up 21.7% over the same period; fruit and vegetable exports reached 4.63 billion USD, up 30.6% over the same period; shrimp exports reached 2.41 billion USD, up 9.5% over the same period; tra fish exports reached 1.2 billion USD, up 8.2% over the same period last year.

Notably, the average export price of rice reached 625 USD/ton, up 14.8%; the average export price of coffee reached 3,805 USD/ton, up 54.5%; the average export price of rubber reached 1,567 USD/ton, up 16.6%; the average export price of pepper reached 4,810 USD/ton, up 47%; the average export price of tea reached 1,756 USD/ton, up 2.2%. The average export price of cashew nuts reached 5,701 USD/ton, down 1.0% over the same period.

With the results achieved in the first 8 months of the year, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports will reach the Prime Minister's plan for the agricultural sector of 54 - 55 billion USD. This result lays the foundation for relatively stable growth of the entire agricultural sector in 2024.

So what are the factors that helped the agricultural sector achieve very positive results in the first 8 months of 2024, sir?

To achieve such an export scale, it can be said that the restructuring of the entire agricultural sector as well as each industry and each field of ours has gone in the right direction.

Accordingly, in each industry and each field we have strategies, and in each of these strategies we build plans and projects to deploy and launch projects on the right track.

In addition, the complex difficulties of the world situation are opportunities for us to grasp, operate and penetrate deeply into the markets.

The results showed that the export value to all markets increased. In the first 8 months of 2024, agricultural, forestry and fishery exports to the Asian market reached 19 billion USD (up 15.7%); America reached 9.3 billion USD (up 22.3%); Europe reached 4.8 billion USD (up 30.5%); Africa reached 747 million USD (up 5.5%) and Oceania reached 563 million USD (up 12.8%).

The United States, China and Japan continued to be the three largest export markets; export value to the United States accounted for 21.4%, up 23.5%; China accounted for 20.4%, up 10.2% and Japan accounted for 6.7%, up 4.6%.

Recently, frozen durian, fresh coconut, and farmed crocodiles have officially been granted 'visas' to enter the Chinese market. How does this open up potential for the export of these products in particular, and Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery products in general, sir?

Recently, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam and the General Administration of Customs of China signed three protocols on exporting frozen durian, fresh coconut and crocodile from Vietnam to the Chinese market...

As for durian, we now have raw material growing areas, varieties, cultivation processes, growing area codes, and packaging facility codes. Therefore, having a 'visa' for frozen durian to enter the Chinese market will be a huge advantage.

For coconut, we have 199.1 thousand hectares with an output of 2 million tons. This is also the potential and advantage of a very large industry.

For crocodile products, having a 'visa' to open the Chinese market is not only an economic opportunity, but also a driving force for the Vietnamese crocodile farming industry to develop in a sustainable direction, ensuring environmental standards and animal welfare.

In Vietnam, crocodile farming has developed for decades, in which the Mekong Delta is a place with great potential and advantages. Products such as meat and skin have very high value. Crocodiles are very easy to raise, farmers can take advantage of surplus animal products to raise crocodiles.

Recently, crocodile exports have encountered difficulties, so many localities and farms have had to reduce production scale. However, crocodiles being officially exported to China will help the product to be consumed smoothly.

Currently, Vietnam has mastered the process of raising, caring for, hatching crocodiles... In the coming time, units of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will continue to organize propaganda, training, and guidance for participating export units to grasp the requirements and regulations of the Protocol, helping localities, businesses and producers prepare well for exporting to the Chinese market. At the same time, closely coordinate with Chinese authorities to ensure the smooth implementation of the Protocol, supporting Vietnamese businesses and farmers to make the most of the opportunities from these Protocols.

With the signing and entry into force of the three Protocols, along with previous export products, and the involvement of the Government, Ministries, and relevant agencies in logistics, railways, and smart border gates, I believe that the output and export value to the Chinese market will increase.

Thank you!
