Argentina's pear and apple exports to increase slightly in the first nine months of 2024, with Brazil. Producers expect a strong recovery |
According to figures published in Diario Rio Negro, pear exports increased by 6% to 302,404 tonnes. Brazil remained the largest market, accounting for about a third of all shipments, followed by Russia, the United States and Italy. To date, about 53% of the region's pear production has been exported, while 33% has been processed and 14% has been consumed domestically.
As for apple exports, they increased by 1% compared to the January-September period, reaching 59,659 tonnes. The main destinations were neighboring Brazil, Paraguay and Bolivia. Unlike pears, the majority of Argentina's apples are consumed domestically, with 47% sold fresh, 37% processed and just 16% exported.
In particular, Patagonia remains the main producing region, accounting for 90% of Argentina's apple production and 84% of its pear production.
These positive signals from Argentina's export activities not only bring hope to agricultural producers but also contribute to boosting the local economy in the context of an increasingly competitive global market.
