Before leaving the hospital, Xuan Son shared positive images on his personal page. He appeared with a cheerful image and continued to practice post-surgery rehabilitation exercises. Both Xuan Son and his wife, Marcele, are very excited to welcome the New Year of the Snake, although the male striker will certainly have some inconvenience in moving around due to his injury. Celebrating Tet at home, Xuan Son also needs to pay attention to his diet to avoid affecting the surgical wound as well as limit excessive weight gain because he cannot exercise as usual.

According to Dr. Vu Tu Nam, Head of the Department of Arthroscopic Surgery & Sports Medicine, Vinmec Times City Hospital, Xuan Son's surgery requires perfection and individualization in each step. Xuan Son's injury is not just a simple fracture but a complex fracture of the bone shaft, with a large 7cm fragment and the risk of the fracture lines splitting into many smaller pieces. The combination of bone with intramedullary nailing technique must ensure that it does not affect the natural bone healing process and surrounding healthy structures.
The biggest challenge was to calculate every step in detail, from the type of nail, the size of the nail, the location of the nail, to the technique of percutaneous reduction without opening the broken duck. Thanks to the cooperation between departments and simulation technology, the surgery was successful.

MSc. Dr. Ho Ngoc Minh, Executive Director of Motion Lab and Surgeon of Arthroscopy & Sports Medicine, Vinmec Times City Hospital, said that when Xuan Son can return to training depends on many factors, including time and recovery process. At a minimum, Xuan Son can practice at high intensity after 6 months, but on average it takes up to 9 months to return to the official football field.
Dr. Ho Ngoc Minh assessed that with this injury, Xuan Son has the ability to regain his form. However, the final result depends largely on the close coordination between the doctor, athlete and coaching staff. Previous achievements have proven this: many athletes such as Thai Thi Thao and Chuong Thi Kieu have returned to their peak after serious injuries. This strengthens the belief in Xuan Son's successful recovery.
