On September 14, Hanoi City Police said that Dan Phuong District Police had administratively punished a subject who posted false information about the dike breach in Trung Chau Commune (Dan Phuong), causing public panic and affecting local security and order.
Previously, Dan Phuong District Police discovered that Facebook account "Nguyen Thi Mai" posted a video with the content "Trung Chau - Dan Phuong dike broke, everyone. I hope everyone is safe", attracting many comments and shares, causing fear and insecurity for many people.
Through verification, Dan Phuong District Police have clarified that NTMP, residing in Tam Thuan Commune, Phuc Tho District, is the person who posted the above false information.
Working with the police, P admitted to posting an article with false content and not verifying the authenticity of the information about the dike breach in Trung Chau commune, Dan Phuong district.
The district police have issued a decision to administratively fine NTMP 7.5 million VND for the act of "Providing and sharing fabricated information causing panic among the people, inciting violence, crimes, social evils, gambling or serving gambling" as prescribed in Point d, Clause 1, Article 101, Decree No. 15/2020/ND-CP dated February 3, 2020 stipulating administrative sanctions in the fields of post and telecommunications, radio frequencies, information technology and electronic transactions.
Hanoi City Police recommends that people should be alert to information on social networks; need to access official information pages and press agencies of state agencies and organizations to promptly update accurate and reliable information about the storm situation.
