Recently, social networks have been spreading images of Miss Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen’s invitation to attend Miss Universe 2024 from the Miss Universe Organization (MUO). Notably, the invitation was sent on August 27, while Ky Duyen was crowned on September 14.
This raises suspicions about the arrangement of results and transparency in the selection process of Vietnam's representative in this beauty contest.
Miss Ky Duyen's invitation to attend Miss Universe 2024 caused a stir in public opinion.
The Miss Universe Vietnam Organizing Committee said that 5 days after Ky Duyen was crowned (September 19), the beauty queen received an invitation to Miss Universe in Spanish from the MUO organization. However, to serve the visa application process, the Vietnamese organizing committee requested an English version of the invitation. On October 1, MUO sent back the English version, which is the document currently circulating on social media.
The Miss Universe Vietnam Organizing Committee confirmed that this was just an unfortunate mistake about the date during the data entry process, leading to misunderstandings about the transparency of the contest. At the same time, the Organizing Committee also published emails with full information about the time of sending letters from MUO to prove the authenticity of the incident.
The organizing committee emphasized that all processes and procedures related to Miss Nguyen Cao Ky Duyen's participation in national and international competitions were carried out in accordance with legal regulations and ensured fairness and transparency. The incident regarding the date of sending the letter was an error and did not affect the legality or transparency of the competition.
The organizers hope the audience will understand and continue to support Ky Duyen in her upcoming journey at Miss Universe 2024, held in Mexico in November.
