A person from Duy Xuyen shared that every time he passes through Ai Nghia intersection to go to Da Nang, he is always afraid of being hit by a car because of the heavy traffic. After the management unit banned cars from crossing the new Cau Lau bridge, the number of cars, including heavy trucks, container trucks, and passenger cars with 30 seats or more, passing through Ai Nghia intersection has increased dramatically, making the traffic situation even more complicated.
Based on the information reflected by Quang Nam Newspaper, the report of the route management unit and the recommendations from the locality, the Quang Nam Department of Transport has urgently started the inspection. In the immediate future, the sector has directed the maintenance unit of the two routes DT609 and DT609B to clear the stagnant water that cannot drain. Immediately patching the "potholes" with cold asphalt concrete is a new technology product, suitable for ensuring traffic in the rain to minimize the "potholes" from growing larger into "elephant holes", contributing to making traffic participants safer.
Deputy Director of the Department of Transport - Mr. Ho Quang Minh said that recently, the industry has sent a delegation to continue inspecting the DT609 and DT609B routes in general, and the Ai Nghia - Ai Nghia intersection in particular, to find specific solutions. "The "potholes" have been patched. The intersection is controlled by traffic lights, so it is necessary to study and adjust the lights accordingly, avoiding conflicts that cause difficulties for traffic participants" - Mr. Minh said.
The Department of Transport will consult with Road Management Area 3 to calculate traffic flow from a distance. Adjust traffic flow appropriately in the second phase (after Lunar New Year 2025) to serve the repair of the new Cau Lau bridge, to ensure safety for local roads as well as weak bridges.
Chairman of Dai Loc District People's Committee - Mr. Le Van Quang shared that the locality has made recommendations to the provincial authorities to maintain and repair the road. District leaders also directed the police force to strengthen inspection and supervision, and strictly handle violations.
People believe that the authorities need to allocate funds to install traffic cameras to have a basis for fining violations, because red light running and speeding often occur, including at Ai Nghia intersection (the intersection of Nguyen Tat Thanh and Huynh Ngoc Hue streets).
A car driver added that the sidewalk at the corner of Hung Vuong - Quang Trung streets in the east is too wide, so the roadway is narrowed. The authorities need to study narrowing the sidewalk to widen the roadway for long-bed trucks from Hung Vuong Street (DT609) to go up, turn right onto Quang Trung Street (DT609B) to get to National Highway 14B more easily. In addition, divert heavy trucks traveling on National Highway 14B, down to Tuy Loan intersection (Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city), onto Da Nang - Quang Ngai expressway to go south; instead of going through Ai Nghia intersection and then down to DT609 to get to the expressway.
Director of Quang Nam Traffic Infrastructure Management Center (Department of Transport) - Mr. Dang Huu Linh said that the province has approved the project "repairing damaged road surface at km0+000 - km1+000, km14+300 - km15+280, Ai Nghia intersection and repairing Loc My bridge, DT609 route". The functional sector is preparing for bidding, expected to implement the repair in the first quarter of 2025. According to the design, for the intersection at Ai Nghia intersection, the area of the road surface with minor cracks will be watered with asphalt emulsion, then covered with a 5cm thick layer of dense asphalt concrete combined with compensation for the old road surface. The area of the road surface with severe turtle shell cracks and rutted wheel tracks will be dug up and the old damaged road with an average thickness of 25cm will be removed, the crushed stone aggregate base layer will be restored 18cm thick; watered with standard asphalt, covered with 7cm thick dense asphalt concrete; Apply standard emulsion adhesive, 1 layer of dense asphalt concrete 5cm thick.
