Xiaomi is ready to launch two triple-folding screen smartphones

Báo Dân tríBáo Dân trí27/09/2024

Huawei surprised many people when it launched the Mate XT, the world's first tri-fold screen smartphone, on September 10.

The product has a 6.4-inch external screen for use as a regular bar-shaped smartphone and can be expanded to a maximum 10-inch screen, equivalent to a large tablet.

The Mate XT was launched in a market that has become saturated in both features and design. Even foldable smartphones are gradually falling into a rut with similar designs.

Huawei's tri-fold smartphone is expected to make a difference and be a push to open a new smartphone segment in the market. Right after the Mate XT was introduced, many other technology companies are also ready to launch their own tri-fold smartphone models. Xiaomi is one of them.

Technology site SmartPrix quoted sources close to Xiaomi as saying that the Chinese technology company is ready to launch not just one but two different triple-folding screen smartphones in the near future.

Information about Xiaomi's tri-fold screen smartphone appeared on a Chinese product information declaration website (Photo: SmartPrix).

Xiaomi's first product will be called Zhuque, expected to launch in early 2025. Besides the highlight of the tri-fold screen design, Zhuque also stands out thanks to the lack of any physical buttons, making the product Xiaomi's first buttonless smartphone.

Zhuque is not only Xiaomi's pioneering tri-fold screen smartphone, but is also considered a foundation product for Xiaomi to continue launching other tri-fold screen smartphones.

In addition to Zhuque, Xiaomi is also developing another tri-fold screen smartphone, but the product has no name yet and is codenamed "26013VP46C". This smartphone is likely to be introduced by Xiaomi in late 2025 or early 2026.

However, SmartPrix's source said that Xiaomi may bring Zhuque to the international market, while the smartphone model with the code name "26013VP46C" will only be a product exclusively for the Chinese market.

Xiaomi’s three-fold smartphone models are still in development and not yet complete. Xiaomi will likely rely on the market’s reaction to Huawei’s Mate XT smartphone to decide whether to commercialize its product or not.

Huawei's Mate XT smartphone has caused a "fever" in the Chinese market, when the first batch of products sold out in just a few seconds. Huawei said the number of Mate XT pre-orders has reached millions, making it take the company more time to meet all of these orders.
