The September automobile market witnessed a memorable milestone when for the first time, the Vietnamese electric car company surpassed all international gasoline and electric car brands to become the best-selling car company in the market. The number of cars sold in 1 month by the Vietnamese car company was 1.5 times higher than Toyota in 2nd place, even 2-3 times higher than brands such as KIA, Honda, Ford... Continuing the success of September, VinFast continued to deliver a large number of electric cars to customers in October with more than 11,000 units, bringing the cumulative total to more than 51,000 units, maintaining its position as the best-selling car brand in the Vietnamese market in the first 10 months of the year. The event of VinFast becoming the best-selling car company in Vietnam is an important milestone, marking a turning point for the country's automobile industry. In just 5 years of entering the market, VinFast has not only affirmed its solid position but also officially surpassed foreign car manufacturers to capture the largest market share. VinFast's historical milestone has received great support from the Vietnamese consumer community. On a forum with more than 200,000 members who share a passion for travel, many people sent congratulations to the Vietnamese electric car manufacturer. "For decades, we have only seen foreign car manufacturers sharing positions in the sales rankings. The fact that a Vietnamese car manufacturer has surpassed all foreign brands and taken the lead in the Vietnamese market is a source of pride for all of us," wrote member Tran Trung Kien. Notably, this memorable milestone of VinFast was recorded just over 2 years after officially switching to pure electric. This is something that no other car company in the world has been able to do. The support and joint efforts of hundreds of thousands of VinFast customers were affirmed by Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong, Chairman of Vingroup and General Director of VinFast Global, as the decisive factor helping VinFast achieve this feat. Mr. Pham Nhat Vuong respectfully expressed his gratitude to those who were brave and pioneers in supporting a young Vietnamese brand, and who patiently and persistently used and commented on VinFast's products and services in the early days. Thanks to that, VinFast has made remarkable improvements and progress in product and service quality and achieved what it is today. Looking back on the 5-year journey since its establishment, VinFast has continuously created a stir with "huge" advances such as: making Vietnam one of the countries with the leading number of charging ports in the region as well as the world, surpassing both the US and China; helping Vietnam become the first country exporting transportation services in the world; introducing the pioneer unit implementing the franchise charging station model in Vietnam... Every time it makes a breakthrough, VinFast makes the whole world amazed. In the Vietnamese market, VinFast electric cars have changed the travel habits of Vietnamese people. "My family used to have a gasoline car, but at that time I rarely drove it because I was afraid and did not have the confidence to control it when driving in crowded urban areas. However, when driving the VF 8, everything changed completely, the smart features that support the driver help me confidently drive the car all day. When my husband planned to buy the VF 8, I was quite hesitant, but after a while of driving, the VF 8 became a close companion. The car helps women like me not to be afraid of any road", Ms. Dang Huyen, a VF 8 owner, shared about the process of using VinFast's electric D-SUV. In particular, with powerful technological assistants integrated into the car, along with a system of charging stations across the country, VinFast electric cars have accompanied many drivers on many long trips, cross-Vietnam journeys over the past time. Many electric car owners admit that switching to electric cars is the right choice because of the extremely economical costs. "If you travel an average of 1,000 km/month, the cost of charging is only about 400,000 VND, equivalent to 400 VND/km," said Mr. Tran Minh Kien, a VF 5 Plus owner in Hanoi . From initial concerns, electric cars have confidently conquered all customers on all roads. Not to mention, VinFast also continuously offers super attractive policies on care, maintenance, and after-sales systems, meeting all requirements so that Vietnamese users can confidently switch from gasoline cars to electric cars. Before marking a historic milestone in the car market, billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong's Green Taxi SM brand also accelerated to the 3rd position in the market share rankings of technology-based ride-hailing companies in Vietnam. Vietnam's first electric car-hailing application, after only a short time of appearing, has shaken the "house" position of a foreign "giant" after a decade of dominating the market. The founder of VinFast once shared that becoming a 100% electric car company was VinFast's vision right from its inception and the aspiration that VinFast set out from the beginning: Every strategy is not only about profit. It is a vision of a sustainable future for people and the planet through green, clean and safe mobility. Therefore, each achievement is not only very meaningful to VinFast's business activities, but also an important milestone in the effort to build a greener future for everyone through sustainable mobility. "Transportation is a key factor in human achievements because it brings opportunities to individuals as well as society . However, the revolutions of the mobility industry also create many challenges for our planet, threatening the balance between the living environment and human development. Now, we have a mission to bring everyone access to green means of transport at a reasonable price, aiming towards sustainable development on a global scale," emphasized the leader of VinFast. Supporting VinFast's approach, economic expert, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Dinh Thien, former Director of the Vietnam Economic Institute, affirmed that this is an "extremely standard" choice in terms of strategy. Vietnam's automobile industry, compared to the world, has been far behind. VinFast, newly established, did not choose to follow and compete in the same segment, but with the consistent declaration of "pioneering", this enterprise also "hit" the newest market, the most advanced technology of mankind. According to Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Dinh Thien, green development is a historical mission of the times, a global task. It is not only of great importance but also a vital command for the whole world, for all countries and Vietnam cannot stand aside. We have made strong green transformation commitments to the whole world and the goal of "zero carbon 2050" is one of them. Although coming later and not really strong, Vietnam dares to accept the challenge and act. In particular, Vietnam considers that challenge a historical and epochal opportunity, a strong motivation to surpass and catch up with the world. However, in reality, up to now, the impacts of the green transformation story on society and businesses are still not effective enough. Vietnam needs a strong motivation, in which VinFast's early switch from gasoline to electric vehicles is not only a symbolic action but also sends a clear message that Vietnam must act immediately, act strongly. "From a place of skepticism, Vingroup, with its drastic and strong actions over the past time, has proven that the company's commitment to green transformation is truly serious, bringing concrete results. VinFast announced to become a pure electric car company after only 2 years of asserting itself. That is a truly courageous action, taking all the challenges upon itself, but at the same time clearly demonstrating the determination to contribute to green development, in line with the trend of the times. It is clear that their motivations have gone beyond pure profit motives, instead they are dedication, contributing to fulfilling Vietnam's commitment, realizing the green development goals of all humanity. The achievements just achieved are not only very inspiring in the field of green development but also proof that Vingroup has overcome the most difficult period to maintain its position, contributing to helping Vietnam gain a position in the world", Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Dinh Thien acknowledged. VinFast holds the number 1 market share in Vietnam with outstandingly high sales of VF 3 and VF 5, even equal to many companies' sales... for the whole year, showing that consumers increasingly prefer electric vehicles and support the green travel trend. Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Dinh Thien analyzed: Vietnamese consumers have somewhat changed their awareness, gradually absorbing the urgency of green development and green transportation conversion, but not to the extent of being conscious of buying electric vehicles as strongly as recently. Awareness goes hand in hand with economic motivation, which is VinFast's preferential commitments that have shocked many people. From free electricity for 2 years, gratitude for maintenance packages, interest rate support and risks in accessing loans, to support for creating a convenient charging network, simplifying procedures to the minimum in the process of changing cars... VinFast has advanced capital, spent huge costs to encourage changes in the market. Along with that are effective marketing "tricks", offering programs for those who buy first, buy early to enjoy many benefits ... VinFast has hit directly on economic benefits, creating motivation for people to want to buy electric cars. VinFast does this so that people understand, people choose electric cars, people enjoy benefits, and contribute to a green society. According to Mr. Tran Dinh Thien, every achievement must have a sacrifice and it must be affirmed that VinFast is helping to ease the burden on the state and society. This action is also in line with many charity, community, and social programs that Vingroup has done so far. There are always very "huge" expenses in exchange for great benefits for society. However, if a business bears it alone, it cannot be sustainable. Green transformation cannot be just a single, isolated action of each business but requires the cooperation of the business community in all fields, of each citizen. There, consumers need to clearly understand the purpose of the business to be proud and supportive, and the state should approach the use of electric vehicles as a national program. For example, in the future, public vehicles will be converted to electric vehicles, which not only creates a market but also supports a Vietnamese business to build a national brand and compete internationally. In addition, enterprises need the support and coordination of local authorities to implement green transport conversion programs towards green urban areas like Nha Trang City is pursuing. "Such programs will be very meaningful to enterprises and bring about the spread of green values to society much faster," emphasized economist, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Dinh Thien. Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hong Thai (University of Transport) agrees that Vietnam's green transport conversion process needs great support from policies. To promote the development of personal electric vehicles, management agencies need to study and develop an electric vehicle development roadmap with a clear vision and goals, especially providing financial incentives for the production, ownership and use of electric vehicles; providing policies to promote the development of systems and battery swapping. At the same time, build a comprehensive system of regulations and standards related to electric vehicles, applying mandatory fuel consumption standards for cars and motorbikes. Specifically, the roadmap from now to 2030 must promote the production, assembly, import and conversion of electric road motor vehicles; develop electric charging infrastructure to meet the needs of people and businesses. By 2040, limit and gradually stop the production, assembly and import of cars, motorbikes and scooters using fossil fuels for domestic use. After 2050, 100% of road motor vehicles and construction motorbikes participating in traffic will be converted to use electricity and green energy, all bus stations and rest stops will meet green criteria; all machinery and loading and unloading equipment using fossil fuels will be converted to use electricity and green energy, etc.
