Garbage truck crashes off bridge and falls into river, 2 people missing

Thua Thien Hue provincial authorities are mobilizing people and vehicles to search for two missing people after a garbage truck crashed through a bridge and fell into the river.

On the morning of November 21, Mr. Tran Huu Thuy Giang - Chief of Office of Thua Thien Hue Provincial People's Committee confirmed that 2 people were missing after a garbage truck fell onto Binh Thanh bridge (Huong Tra town).

According to the leader of the Traffic Safety Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, the incident happened at around 7:15 this morning, at the Binh Thanh suspension bridge area.

Garbage truck with license plate 75C – 044.83 was traveling from National Highway 49B to Binh Thanh commune. When moving to the middle of Binh Thanh suspension bridge, the garbage truck suddenly lost control, collided and hit the right side of the bridge and fell into the river. There were 2 people on the garbage truck at the time.

Immediately upon receiving the news, the Thua Thien Hue provincial government mobilized forces and vehicles to quickly arrive at the scene to organize rescue work.

Authorities have just found a body floating on the Red River, in Vinh Lai commune, Lam Thao district ( Phu Tho province).
