In addition to FIFA's sharing, the Asian Football Confederation also sent a letter of condolences to the VFF and the player's family. President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa wrote: " I am deeply saddened and shocked to receive information about the tragic traffic accident involving the Quang Nam Youth Football Team, when the team was returning from a match in the Vietnam Second Division Football Tournament.
The saddest thing is that player Vo Minh Hieu is no more. I would like to send my deepest condolences to Vo Minh Hieu’s family, relatives and friends. I hope all the injured will recover soon .”
The incident occurred on May 25 when the Quang Nam Youth team returned home after a 5-0 victory over Gama Vinh Phuc Club in the first leg of the National Second Division. The match was held at Kon Tum Province Stadium. The vehicle had technical problems and an accident occurred at Vi O Lac Pass, in Ba To District, Quang Ngai Province. The incident resulted in the death of player Vo Minh Hieu, in addition to two players Luong Quang Huy, Nguyen Phi Hung and a fan who were seriously injured and had to be rushed to the hospital.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Vietnam Football Federation sent a letter of condolence. VFF donated 50 million VND to support the family of player Vo Minh Hieu; visited and gave money to two players Luong Quang Huy, Nguyen Phi Hung and the accompanying fans who are being treated at the hospital.
