Building Ninh Thuan into a center for high-quality shrimp seed production

Resolution of the 14th Ninh Thuan Provincial Party Congress, term 2020-2025, identifies aquatic seed production, especially shrimp seed, as one of the groups of industries that need to focus on prioritizing investment and development, to create development momentum for other economic sectors. To realize the above goal, the province has issued many support and incentive policies, creating all conditions for the shrimp seed production sector to continuously develop.

Attracting investment in shrimp seed production

With advantages in natural conditions, geographical location, clean and stable seawater environment, taking advantage of central and local budget capital, in recent times the province has focused on planning and synchronously building infrastructure, wastewater treatment systems, seawater pumping stations, power grids, roads; upgrading 4 shrimp testing rooms to high standards, capable of testing for some types of viral diseases in farmed shrimp... From focusing on investing in equipment for shrimp seed production areas, creating trust for hundreds of domestic and foreign enterprises to registering to participate in production, creating a strong brand in the market. Up to now, the whole province has about 464 facilities, with more than 1,200 farms operating shrimp seed production in 2 concentrated aquatic seed production areas with an area of ​​225 hectares in An Hai commune (Ninh Phuoc) and Nhon Hai commune (Ninh Hai). The advantage for businesses participating in production here is that it is located near the main road, creating traffic connections with National Highway 1, making it easy to transport and trade goods with other localities.

Applying technology to improve the quality of shrimp seed sources

Shrimp seed production has made positive progress in both quantity and quality, many companies have made significant technical improvements, strictly applied biosafety standards, and have been trusted and chosen by customers. Established in 2001, after nearly 23 years of construction and development, Viet-Uc Group is a pioneer in applying superior technology in the production process. With an area of ​​1.8 hectares in An Hai commune, each production farm is equipped with artificial lighting, air filtration systems, temperature control air conditioners and some advanced technologies in water treatment, pathogen control testing technology, providing the market with over 2 billion postlarvae shrimp each year; thanks to that, for many years, Viet-Uc Group has always affirmed its leading position in the shrimp seed sector in Vietnam. Or S6 Investment Joint Stock Company, with input water treatment technology using an ultra-filtration system, integrating UV rays to kill bacteria, Ozone to filter bacteria, applying microbiological preparations to manage water quality, pathogens, creating high-quality breeds for farmers.

Thanks to the efforts of businesses, production activities have achieved many successes, the output of shrimp postlarvae in 2024 is estimated at 45,180 million postlarvae, reaching 101.5% of the plan. Mr. Nguyen Kim Long, Head of the Provincial Department of Fisheries, shared: 2024 is considered a relatively favorable year for shrimp postlarvae production and trading activities, shrimp postlarvae output increased by 8.3% over the same period last year. Due to the high demand for shrimp postlarvae from the beginning of the year and lasting throughout the year, favorable weather conditions, fast stage transition of larvae, high survival rate, creating excitement for production enterprises.

Aiming to become a high quality shrimp seed production area of ​​the country

In 2018, Ninh Thuan shrimp seed was granted a certificate of trademark protection by the Department of Intellectual Property (Ministry of Science and Technology) and recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as one of the 12 typical products of the province. This has created a new breakthrough, bringing the shrimp seed industry to remarkable development; promoting the annual production capacity to reach 40-50 billion shrimp seeds, meeting 30-40% of the country's shrimp farming demand. In the Project to develop Ninh Thuan into a center for high-quality shrimp seed production in the country in the period of 2021-2030, the focus will be on expanding the shrimp seed production planning in An Hai area by about 240 hectares, Nhon Hai by 130 hectares and Son Hai area by 40 hectares. According to Mr. Nguyen Khac Lam, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the goal of the project is to invest in synchronous infrastructure, promote the application of technical and technological advances; At the same time, build and develop forms of cooperation and association between enterprises in the production and consumption of shrimp seeds; widely promote the image of Ninh Thuan shrimp seeds in the market. In order to ensure the proposed roadmap, the industry focuses on researching and applying issued mechanisms and policies, combined with new regulations of the central government for implementation. Organize specialized conferences to connect, mobilize resources, call for the participation of enterprises and economic groups with financial capacity, experience, science, technology and high determination to invest in building, bringing the Ninh Thuan shrimp seed brand to continue to affirm its leading position in the country, contributing to the economic growth of the province.
