On September 25, in Kon Tum, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kon Tum province held a conference to evaluate the results of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kon Tum province and the Lao Front Committee for National Construction of Attapeu and Sekong provinces for the period 2019 - 2024.

Attending the conference were Ms. Y Thi Bich Tho, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kon Tum province; Mr. Bun Hom Phon Ma San, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Chairman of the Lao Front for National Construction of Attapeu province; Mr. Vong Da Lay That Bua La Pha, Vice Chairman of the Lao Front for National Construction of Sekong province, and representatives of relevant units of the three provinces.

According to the report at the conference, over the past 5 years, under the direction of Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations from the provincial to the grassroots level, the three provinces of Kon Tum, Attapeu and Sekong have seriously implemented the contents of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation. Propaganda and mobilization work on people-to-people diplomacy has been carried out with focus, achieving many positive results. Twinning activities between border villages of Kon Tum province and villages and clusters of villages of Sekong and Attapeu provinces have been maintained effectively.

The cooperation between Kon Tum province and Attapeu and Sekong provinces in the fields of socio-economic development and national defense and security has been increasingly deepened, bringing practical results. Issues related to borders and territorial sovereignty have been coordinated and resolved promptly and effectively; demarcation and marker planting work has also been carried out in a guaranteed manner. People on both sides of the Vietnam-Laos border have a long-standing tradition of solidarity and cooperation, and the friendly neighborly relationship has been increasingly developing well.

At the conference, delegates discussed and evaluated the results achieved, drew lessons and proposed solutions for the coming time. At the same time, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kon Tum province and the Lao Front Committee for National Construction of Attapeu and Sekong provinces for the period 2024-2029.

Accordingly, the three provinces will continue to promote propaganda work, raise awareness among all classes of people, especially the young generation, students, and pupils about the guidelines, policies, and laws of the two Parties and two States, and strengthen the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

At the same time, localities will strengthen exchanges and twinning between districts, communes, hamlets and villages sharing the border; mobilize people on both sides to support forces in managing, protecting, maintaining and repairing the national border marker system; participate in searching for martyrs' remains; denounce crimes of trafficking in drugs, weapons, explosives, illegal exploitation and transportation of forest and minerals across the border and prevent illegal border crossing activities.

The two sides will work together to build a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development; continue to build strong Front organizations and people's organizations, contributing to consolidating the grassroots political system in border areas, paying special attention to building residential areas, villages and hamlets to ensure security and order...

Previously, on September 24, in Sekong province, a Conference was held to evaluate the results of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Preventing and Combating Forest Resource Violations and cooperation directions for the period 2025 between the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Kon Tum province (Vietnam) and the Department of Agriculture and Forestry of Sekong province (Laos).

Here, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation mechanisms to prevent illegal exploitation of forest land and proposed directions for coordination in 2025, in which they agreed to continue implementing the contents of the signed Memorandum, in order to strengthen cooperation and information exchange to manage and prevent illegal exploitation and trading of forest products (timber, forest products, wildlife, etc.) in the border area between Kon Tum province and Sekong province. At the same time, strengthen coordination, information exchange, and resolve issues related to forest protection and forest product management in the border area between the Dak Glei district forest rangers, Kon Tum province and Dak Cheung district, Sekong province.
