President To Lam speaks at the award ceremony

According to the organizing committee, the 18th National Press Awards attracted more than 1,900 entries. The awards council evaluated, voted and selected 10 A prizes, 26 B prizes, 45 C prizes and 41 consolation prizes to award the 18th National Press Awards.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, speaking at the award ceremony, President To Lam sent to generations of journalists, press workers, and the press public his warmest feelings, kind regards, and best wishes from General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

According to President To Lam, the Vietnamese revolutionary press was founded by beloved President Ho Chi Minh, under the leadership of the Party, with the noble and sacred goal of serving the Fatherland and the people. After 99 years of establishment and development, it has clearly demonstrated its role as a sharp weapon of the working class, a revolutionary flag, and made important contributions to the cause of national liberation and unification in the past, as well as in the cause of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland today.

To complete the great and glorious task of propaganda work, create social consensus and the combined strength to successfully implement the Party's policies and guidelines, President To Lam suggested focusing on building a team of journalists who are truly soldiers on the cultural and ideological front, with "bright minds, pure hearts, sharp pens", "both red and professional"; steadfast in the ideals and noble values ​​of journalism, adhering to principles, maintaining professional ethics, having an offensive spirit, fighting to eliminate the bad and the wrong, protecting the right and the good, always wholeheartedly and wholeheartedly for the common cause.

Promote the role of the press to the fullest extent, truly being a sharp weapon, an effective tool of the Party on the ideological front. Educate and guide all social classes to act according to socialist standards and ethics; fight against erroneous and hostile viewpoints; actively participate in the fight against corruption and negativity.

Enhance cultural values ​​in each journalistic work. Journalistic works must constantly preserve and promote ethical values ​​and Vietnamese cultural identity; shape and spread cultural standards of behavior in society, contributing to building and developing Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of building and defending the Fatherland in the new period.

After emphasizing the assertion of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong that "journalism is a noble profession, but extremely arduous and difficult", President To Lam said that to become pioneers on the ideological and cultural front, to be "secretaries of the times", to become "gatekeepers of the people", revolutionary journalists must meet high demands in terms of intelligence, courage, sense of responsibility and dedication, and must constantly strive to study journalism theory, profession and modern media technology.
